Hala's narrow eyes widened in shock.
Any move that used elemental energy would give off light. Even if he couldn't see it from his angle, how could Machamp have missed it at such close range?

Shiny Gengar's eyes glowed red in midair, and a translucent afterimage split from its body. The apparition giggled as it rushed toward the sleeping Machamp.
In an instant,
the afterimage entered Machamp's body. Its face twisted as it groaned in pain.

Streams of green light poured out of its body. Gengar absorbed every last one, looking blissful as its strength returned.
Hala shouted, "Wake up, Machamp! Get up!"
"You won't get the chance! Dream—Shadow Ball!"
A thought flashed through Baimu's mind, and he changed his command at the last moment.

Machamp's eyes snapped open. Its groans became an angry roar, veins bulging across its blue-gray skin as pale red energy rose around it like a visible rage.

Gengar howled and raised a black orb that made the air tremble. Then it slammed the orb onto Machamp's head with both hands like a basketball player dunking into the hoop!

Energy shrieked as a wave of darkness forced Machamp back down!
