That lunatic was at it again!
He thought he could steal an artifact, claim it belonged to his ancestors, and escape prosecution?
Ha!
How was that—
"Does a livestream claiming ownership actually count?"
Baimu snapped his gaze toward Officer Jenny in the passenger seat. She was frowning.
Officer Jenny shook her head, then slowly nodded. At last, under his and Raihan's strange looks, she gave a wry smile. "I'm not sure either."
"I've notified a Pokémon League prosecutor," she added. "He should be on his way."
Even in the Pokémon World, the police, prosecutors, and courts were separate branches.
The police made arrests, prosecutors brought charges, and the courts handed down verdicts.
In other words...
As absurd as the former royal brothers' move seemed, it had somehow complicated matters. Even Officer Jenny couldn't make a clear call.
The officers piled into their vehicles in full gear and sped toward the estate outside the city. Sirens wailed, and pedestrians stopped to make way.
Baimu hitched a ride with Raihan, keeping his eyes on the livestream.
"How's it going?" Raihan asked.
At the wheel, he turned his head slightly, though his eyes stayed on the road.
"They haven't opened it yet. They keep going over the Galar Royal Family's history and saying which king the Underground Royal Tomb belonged to. I think they're just using the coffin to draw attention."
"And that lets them claim the Golden Coffin?"
"Depends on local law. I don't know Galar's laws that well."
"..."
Raihan fell silent.
Clearly, he didn't know much about the law either.
Sure enough, teaching people the law is an uphill battle in any world, Baimu thought. If he hadn't dealt with some rather unusual people himself, he would probably have been half-clueless too.
The convoy raced ahead at full speed.
