The long train thundered across the plain, scattering loose stones and drawing curious Wild Pokémon out of the grass.

Inside their compartment, Baimu glanced at the victory sign on his phone, then looked up at Calyrex, who was gazing worriedly out the window.

The big-headed deer levitated a piece of dried carrot from the table into its mouth and sighed.

"I wonder what we shall do if I cannot bring forth the Radiant Petal."

"No need to rush. How about a game first, Your Majesty?"

Baimu held out his spare phone. Beside him, Shiny Gengar raised a plump paw in agreement.

"Gen-gar!"

Carrying one lousy player or two made no difference.

Games were more fun with a crowd!

Calyrex ignored Gengar's expectant gaze and didn't spare the phone a glance. It quickly finished its carrot, then widened its round eyes.

Baimu put down his phone and gave the troublesome King of Bountiful Harvest his full, if dutiful, attention.

Lately, Calyrex had been staying awake more than twice as long. It had also grown increasingly talkative, fretting over one thing or another every few minutes.

Baimu had made it perfectly clear: some things could not be rushed.

But Calyrex kept calling, "My dear retainer, my dear retainer," and making him repeat the same reassurances over and over, like a cow chewing cud.
