The field was vast.
Avery was restless.
Although he had made peace with Baimu, he had embarrassed himself in front of his fellow disciples.
He came from a distinguished family of Psychics whose bloodline had run a Psychic-type Pokémon Gym for generations. The humiliation stung, and his fierce pride drove him to find some way to save face.
As luck would have it, an opportunity presented itself.
He would be the first challenger in the trial match against Baimu.
I have to redeem myself!
Avery adjusted his glasses and ordered, "Move in! Psychic!"
In midair,
Swoobat beat its wings and swiftly closed in on Galarian Corsola, which looked like a piece of jade.
Blue light rose in its bright eyes. Psychic power poured out like countless tentacles, reaching toward the ground!
"Cors..."
Corsola looked dejected, its eyes full of a weary worker's resentment.
In the next instant,
a soft blue glow enveloped its body. As if seized by an invisible hand, Corsola shot skyward like a firework!
Whoosh!
The sharp whistle of air was especially piercing.
Everyone's gaze rose with Corsola, as did Swoobat's glowing eyes. The difference was that Corsola had only flown so high because Swoobat was controlling it.
Within a few breaths, its opponent had reached the limit of its control.
"Swoo!"
Swoobat did not hesitate.
It yanked down Corsola, now little more than a black speck in its vision.
Whoom!
The rushing air took on a deeper sound.
Corsola fell so fast that bright flames seemed to ignite across its body—though they were a strange ghostly purple.
At the sight, Avery's budding grin vanished. He cried out,
"Will-O-Wisp!?"
Boom!
The ground shook!
Corsola slammed into the flat field like a bomb dropped from a drone, throwing up clouds of dust.
But most eyes were on Swoobat.
