Green's gaze fell on the pile of corpses. There was almost no chance anyone beneath it was alive, and that faint trace of Psychic Energy did not feel like it came from a living person. It felt more like a soul or a ghost. For some reason, its source was trapped under the corpses, unable to leave. It could only wait to die; once its Psychic Energy ran out, it would vanish completely.
Green immediately summoned several Ghouls to do the heavy lifting. They were agile and strong enough to move the bodies.
In less than two minutes, the Ghouls cleared the pile, revealing a young girl's corpse positioned at the center of the entire array.
She was a blonde girl of only twelve or thirteen. Drained of blood, her skin looked especially pale. Her wide-open eyes were dull, filled with disbelief. The faint trace of Psychic Energy had come from inside her body, which meant her soul had not yet dispersed. Green immediately waved his Magic Staff and used Soul Siphon. At the same time, he released a stream of Death Psychic Energy over her corpse to keep what remained of her soul from fading away.
The next moment, an almost imperceptible white light emerged from the corpse. Drawn by Green's Magic Staff, it slowly took human form. It was the girl. She stared blankly at Green, like a doll that had been played with until it broke.
Super reliable.
Green frowned slightly and poured more Psychic Energy into the girl's spirit.
White light flashed, and her spirit grew a little more substantial. Unfortunately, it was only the last flare of a dying flame. Nothing could stop it from dispersing completely. Green had initially fed it only a little Psychic Energy for fear that his power would scatter it.
