Yet Hillsova had not risen to the upper ranks of the Nature Church by being an ordinary Formal Rank priest. Even before joining the church, he had been an Intermediate Formal Mage. With the favor of the God of Nature, his strength had firmly reached Advanced Formal Rank.
Even when the Blood Demon Ape charged in at the critical moment, Hillsova showed no opening. Instead, the ape found itself in dire straits.
The Blood Demon Ape attacked Hillsova in a frenzy, only to be stopped by a pale green curtain of light. Hillsova stood motionless, gazing coldly at the ugly, savage creature two meters away. His Magic Staff swept through an arc, and a green blade of light shot out. It flashed across the ape's body like lightning. A black line appeared diagonally across its torso, slowly widened, and the two halves slid apart. With a single move, Hillsova had slain the vicious Blood Demon Ape.
Colant had just been rescued by the other Blood Demon Ape. Both his feet were broken, and he was forcing himself to endure the agony when he saw the ape fall to the ground in two pieces. His eyes widened with terror. That was a Blood Demon Ape! It had died in the blink of an eye. How could Hillsova be so strong?
As Colant reeled in shock and self-doubt, a female Vampire behind him licked her lips. Her figure flickered, splitting into more than a dozen black bats that flapped straight toward him. The Blood Demon Ape reacted and swept a long arm at them, but struck empty air. The bats scattered, slipped around it, and closed in on Colant.
Though injured, Colant reacted quickly. Gritting his teeth, he struck out with a burst of bloody light that blasted apart the oncoming bats.
