Shadow Leopard

Major Dong Bosi seemed to recognize the vine. When he realized someone had been attacked, he did not look back. He picked up his pace instead.

Green and Lola were walking in the middle, and the group split around them. Major Dong Bosi showed no sign of stopping, and the others hurried after him.

Green frowned slightly and glanced warily in the direction they were headed. Then he pulled Lola to a stop.

"What? You want to help them?" Lola looked surprised. As far as she knew, Green was no bleeding heart.

"Don't go any farther yet," Green said quietly. "I sense danger up ahead. And that Dong Bosi is suspicious."

Lola nodded. She found him strange too. A major in the Anomalies Bureau had jumped at the chance to command a mere twenty people. Given the situation, his rank alone would have made him captain of this temporary squad without his having to ask.

"Watch out! Danger!"

Green had only just stopped when his expression changed. The Devil Vine that roamed nearby at all times had sent him a warning.

The Undead Devil Vine was effectively a living Radar. Wherever Green went, he released it at the first opportunity to hide underground.

At the same time, Major Dong Bosi, who was leading the group, sensed extreme danger. Fear flashed in his eyes, but he forced himself to hold his ground.

The earth shook. A patch of weeds taller than a person thrashed violently, and a huge dark shape burst out. It ignored everyone and ran straight past, leaving a foul, bloody gust in its wake.

The group stared after the enormous creature in shock. At last, they saw what it was.
