Suddenly, Number Six thrashed against his restraints, roaring like a beast. The iron bed clattered and shook as if it might topple at any moment.

"Doctor, it's happening!" The female assistant's eyes lit up. This was exactly what had happened before.

At the same time, the monitoring equipment inside began to blare a shrill alarm.

Green frowned slightly. In truth, he had no idea what was going on. He had acquired most of Dr. Vincent's memories, but having them was little different from watching a film. They could hardly turn him into an expert on Modified Humans.

The female assistant and the researchers in the Laboratory had begun to panic. Seeing their boss standing there without so much as a change in expression helped them regain their composure. They administered the usual injections, and a two-meter-wide Magic Array appeared beneath the bed, producing an effect comparable to a powerful sedative. Number Six soon fell quiet.

Green breathed a silent sigh of relief. Those were the most basic procedures when a Modified Human experiment went wrong. He had only looked calm; he had had no idea what to do.

"Doctor, Number Six is still very unstable. Should we take further measures?" the female assistant asked worriedly. They had already tried that procedure several times, and it had only treated the symptoms.

"No," Green said evenly. "Keep observing him and record the experimental data. First, take me to see Number One."
