After hearing Lola's brief account, Green sighed inwardly. So money could make even ghosts turn millstones in this world!

And what sort of figure was the Church of Light's Holy Archbishop? The God of Light's spokesman, a deity walking among mortals, his most devout servant, a saint beyond compare. Yet for ten thousand Gold Pounds, anyone could obtain Holy Water blessed by the Holy Archbishop himself—and the buyer happened to be an enemy of the Church of Light: a newly turned Vampire!

What puzzled Green more, though, was that Lola had been willing to spend over ten thousand Gold Pounds to purge her Vampire Bloodline.

After all, the Vampire Bloodline had plenty of restrictions, but it was hardly unacceptable. It offered at least one advantage: immortality. Its potential in combat was considerable, too. The Vampire Bloodline Lola had acquired was of a fairly high grade. Green had assumed she would accept her fate, but he had not expected her to be so determined. There had to be a deeper reason. Most likely, Lola had a better choice than the Vampire Bloodline.

At that thought, Green gave Lola a long look. But he had little desire to pry into other people's secrets, so he did not ask. Instead, he changed the subject and asked why she had come to see him.

Lola seemed faintly surprised. She had apparently prepared an explanation, but Green had not followed the script. Annoyed, she lowered her head and pouted, then shot him a glare before answering. "I wouldn't have come to you for no reason. I heard there's a young girl named Penny in the Wilson family who's quite close to you. Is that right?"
