Disbelief filled Anubis's eyes, followed by fear and sudden understanding. He screamed, "Bastard! You tricked me!"
Green stood beside the Divine Altar, watching Anubis struggle desperately within the flames, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Since becoming a Necromancer, Green had never felt such satisfaction. He had outwitted a Deity and driven him into a frenzy. It felt wonderful.
Of the Broken Divine Core, Divinity, and Divine Power Crystals that had hovered above the Divine Altar, only the Divine Power Crystals had been fake. The Divine Core and Divinity were real.
"Anubis, it's time to choose. Life or death—that is the question."
Green spoke as though looking down on him from a great height. To him, this ancient God of Death was now a live fish on a chopping block. When to kill him, and how, was entirely up to Green.

But under the crushing force of the Divine Altar, like an enormous millstone, his Divine Soul was rapidly wearing away.
Anubis knew exactly what was happening to him. At this rate, he would soon be ground out of existence. He might not even last an hour.
