The Kaguya Clan's rebellion was quickly crushed. They refused to surrender even at the end and tried to drag others down with them, so Mei Terumi ordered that none be spared.
That night, the Kaguya Clan was wiped out.
That was what everyone in Kirigakure believed, but Long Ye knew there had to be one survivor.
"Hm?"
His eyes suddenly lit up.
At the edge of his vision, a small figure hid behind a wall. He looked at the bodies of his clansmen strewn across the ground, then quietly backed away and fled the village under cover of night.
So there is a survivor!
A smile tugged at Long Ye's lips.
He took out the Wooden Kite and tossed it through the window. Once it reached the sky, it transformed into a bird of prey.
"Mi Xiang, let's go..."
He wrapped an arm around her and leaped out the window. The Wooden Kite arrived just in time to catch them both, then beat its wings and flew away.
"Who was that?"
Some Kirigakure Ninja spotted them.
Though it was night, fires left by the battle lit the village like daylight. As the Wooden Kite flew overhead, any alert ninja could spot it at once.
"Don't chase them! They aren't enemies."
Some were about to give chase, but Mei Terumi stopped them.
Mei Terumi did not explain who had left or why they had come to the village. Since she said nothing, no one dared ask.
Mei Terumi glanced in the direction Long Ye had flown. Her gaze finally settled on the bodies of the Kaguya Clan, and her eyes turned cold once more.
The small figure moved swiftly. He slipped out of the village under cover of night without anyone noticing.
The fog outside the village was thick.
