"Is what you said true or not?!" Shanks stared at Ryan in disbelief. The information Ryan had just revealed was simply too unbelievable.

Captain Roger actually had a son. After reaching Laugh Tale and becoming the Pirate King, Roger had disbanded the Roger Pirates, and the crew had gone their separate ways. Rayleigh, for instance, had gone to the Sabaody Archipelago to find Shakuyaku, while Gaban had retired to the South Blue.

As for himself, as an apprentice aboard the Roger Pirates, he had founded the Red Hair Pirates and continued to roam these seas while carrying on Roger's will.

Now Ryan was telling him that Captain Roger had a son. That meant Roger had fathered a child during that year he had disappeared!

"Of course it's true. He's my little brother!" Ryan said with a smile, thoroughly pleased by Shanks's stunned expression.

Shanks suddenly understood. "Right, I nearly forgot about your relationship with Captain Roger."

He then turned his gaze toward Ace. After studying him carefully, Shanks realized that Ace really did resemble Roger somewhat. His face shape and eyes were exactly like Captain Roger's when examined closely.

His personality was nothing alike, though. He was gentle and polite, quite different from the Captain Roger Shanks remembered.

"I never expected such a willful captain to have a son like this," Shanks muttered to himself.

"Even the name Ace shows how much the captain wanted his son to inherit his will. Ryan, I want to..."

"No. The path Ace takes in the future depends on himself. No one can control that!" Ryan directly cut Shanks off, because he knew exactly what Shanks wanted to say.
