Ryan was quite surprised by Akainu's arrival. Each of the three admirals had a different personality, and he had already met Aokiji and Kizaru.

The warmest-hearted Aokiji wielded the coldest Devil Fruit. The laziest Kizaru possessed the Glint-Glint Fruit, faster than anything else. Akainu was the coldest of them all, yet he wielded the scorching Magma-Magma Fruit.

The three men's personalities were completely opposite to their Devil Fruits.

There was simply too much controversy surrounding Akainu. Some said he was nothing but a lapdog of the Celestial Dragons; others said he was a true soldier, the representative of the Navy's Iron-Blood Faction.

That was Akainu: justice and evil coexisting within him.

To carry out the World Government's orders, they had directly destroyed all of Ohara. Even though everyone there had been civilians and committed no crimes, perhaps their only "crime" had been uncovering the truth of history, as the World Government claimed.

As a soldier, he had been right. But as a person, he had been wrong. That was the greatest point of controversy surrounding Akainu—his justice was far too extreme.

Ryan believed Akainu was both: a lapdog of the Celestial Dragons and a true soldier. There was no contradiction in that.

In his previous life, Ryan would certainly have despised Akainu because he stood against the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. But after truly living in the world of pirates, Ryan believed Akainu had done nothing wrong. It was only natural for Marines to eliminate pirates, and likewise for pirates to kill Marines.

The two sides were natural enemies. There was no possibility of reconciliation.

Putting aside personal feelings, if Ryan had been Akainu, he would have killed Ace and Whitebeard as well. There was no right or wrong in it, only one's stance.
