Everyone knew Ryan had his own purpose in holding the Pirate Expo this time: to show off his strength.
For a moment, the venue fell silent. Some waited for others to step forward, unwilling to be the first to stick their necks out, while others were too afraid of Ryan to stand up.
Most people looked around, seeing whether anyone would take the lead.
"You brat are getting a little too arrogant!" At that moment, the great hero in many people's hearts appeared. A burly man with a fierce expression stepped forward.
It was him! It was him! It was him!
The great hero in everyone's hearts—Douglas Bullet!
"Oh? You have a different opinion?" Ryan looked at Bullet with interest.
Known as the Devil's Heir, Bullet had dreamed all his life of defeating Roger. Unfortunately, fate toyed with him. Roger had contracted an incurable illness early on and did not have many years left to live. Left without direction, Bullet lost the meaning of fighting. He discovered that protecting his companions only made him weaker.
So Bullet left the ship early and struck out on his own, only to be captured by the Marines in the end.
To be honest, Ryan had expected Bullet to step forward. After all, this man was a battle maniac.
"If you want to become the Pirate King, you'll have to get past me first!" Bullet said in a deep voice.
His relationship with Roger had been complicated—part mentor, part friend!
And now, some green kid had actually taken the position Roger once held. That was something he could not tolerate. Though he was not all that interested in becoming the Pirate King, he would not allow anyone else to inherit Roger's position.
There was only one person who could inherit it: Douglas Bullet!
