Carl used the Slacking System and his Holy Light ability to rise through Marine training while navigating rival offers and leading recruits in battle. After secretly killing captured pirates, Carl and Zephyr faced Edward Weevil, whose assault left the fight unresolved.

• Carl awakened the Slacking System, joined Zephyr’s Marine training camp, and received the Holy Light Fruit as a reward.
• Carl ate the fruit, revealed its healing and strengthening power to Zephyr, Kizaru, and Sengoku, and agreed to keep it secret until graduation.
• Carl faked injuries to avoid training, but negotiated a reduced schedule with Zephyr and mastered most of the Navy Six Powers.
• Carl excelled in the Recruit Grand Competition, rejected Akainu’s offer, and chose to become Kizaru’s adjutant after his internship.
• Zephyr sent Carl and the recruits to capture the Hunting Knife Pirates, but Carl led them into a battle with the Musket Pirates and handed the survivors to Chunyu Town’s mayor for execution.
• Carl commanded the assault on the Hunting Knife Pirates, and the recruits captured thirty and killed seventeen before Ain gave Carl the sword Karasu as a graduation gift.
• When Weevil approached the Training Ship, Carl secretly killed the thirty captured pirates and strengthened Zephyr as Weevil attacked.
• Ain turned Zephyr ten years younger, then left the ship as Zephyr fought Weevil while Carl focused on Miss Bakkin.

Carl supported the Marines in capturing Kaido, then led independent missions that brought her into conflict with Whitebeard’s pirates and Mihawk. After capturing Roach Thompson in the Florian Triangle, she led her Marines into Thriller Bark to pursue a pirate who had escaped.

• Carl fought Weevil with Zephyr, killed Miss Bakkin and Weevil, and earned a promotion after Zephyr reported her role to Sengoku.
• Carl helped Kizaru, Aokiji, Tsuru, and the Vice Admirals wear down and capture Kaido at G-2, then visited Punk Hazard and arranged for Pythagoras to make a weapon using the Raven Model Devil Fruit.
• Carl took charge of a mission against the Butcher Pirates, fought Whitey Bay and Marco, and let Marco leave with the wounded Whitey Bay when Kizaru arrived.
• Sengoku promoted Carl and gave her a Warship, and she accepted a mission to capture Roach Thompson before traveling to Water 7.
• Carl captured White Wolf Wolf on Scrap Island, then fought Mihawk in a duel that left her with a serious sword wound before he departed.
• Carl pursued Roach Thompson’s Flame Pirates into the Florian Triangle, followed their ship into a hidden sea-wall entrance, and captured Roach after Absalom’s trap left the crew panicking.
• Carl detected Absalom with Observation Haki but let him escape, then told Nelson to gather the Marines and enter Thriller Bark.
