"Thank you for saving my life!" The bearded captain tried to kneel in gratitude.
Swain hurriedly caught him and helped him up.
"You don't need to be so polite. It was nothing more than a small effort," Swain said.
The captain gripped his hand and refused to let go. "I haven't even asked your name!"
"My name is Swain."
"Okay... Ah!!" The captain immediately reacted when he heard that name.
"You're that Four Emperors pirate!?"
Swain chuckled. "I'm just an ordinary man. No need to make such a fuss."
The captain had no mind to listen to Swain joke around. Two of his closest comrades had died.
"What are you doing here?" the captain asked curiously.
It was actually rather presumptuous of him to ask that. Their statuses were nowhere near equal.
The other two men placed their companions' bodies together, sat cross-legged on the ground in prayer, then found wooden sticks to make stretchers.
Swain silently watched all of this without saying anything. The dead deserved respect.
Still, Swain answered him without putting on any airs. "I came to find Bartholomew Kuma."
Though the captain showed no fear on the surface, he was terrified inside.
