The Ancient One shook her head. She watched all the mages of Kamar-Taj fight Dormammu, apparently with no intention of intervening.
Beside her, Wanda had picked up a thing or two from their conversation.
Seeing how calm The Ancient One was, Wanda asked, "Sorcerer Supreme, aren't you going to help?"
Wanda did not know who Dormammu was.
But she had heard he ruled the Dark Dimension, and that sounded frightening enough.
Worried about Zhang Yang, Wanda turned to The Ancient One.
After all, The Ancient One was the Sorcerer Supreme. If she helped, it might make all the difference in Zhang Yang's fight against Dormammu.
"He doesn't need me." The Ancient One answered calmly, giving Wanda's question little thought.
Then she continued watching Zhang Yang and the others.
By now, the black swords in the sky had broken through the barrier The Ancient One had erected and were flying toward Kamar-Taj.
Zhang Yang seemed to notice them.
In the space of a frown, yellow Portals lit up across the sky.
The black swords hurtled into them.
Then they vanished along with the Portals.
"Where did they go?" Wanda asked, engrossed and anxious as she watched.
"Back where they came from," The Ancient One said.
Wanda glanced at her, then stepped closer and asked, "Is that Dormammu really powerful?"
Perhaps The Ancient One was bored, or perhaps she had something else in mind, but she answered Wanda's question. "He rules the Dark Dimension. Within it, he is a god."
A god?
That one word said enough about Dormammu's power.
What a god meant to humans needed no explanation.
"Then how could Zhang Yang possibly beat him?" Wanda asked.
The Ancient One smiled. "Why not? With him, anything is possible."
