Rimuru shook her head. "You've got that wrong. I'm a genuine Earthling!"

Natasha smiled. "So you're telling me your blue hair is dyed, your golden eyes are contacts, and your Superpowers are just magic tricks?"

"Of course not. Do you know what a Parallel Universe is?" Rimuru asked.

"A Parallel Universe?"

"That's right. Because of quantum instability, many scientists have speculated that since every quantum can exist in different states, there isn't just one universe, but multiple similar universes. In the past, I wasn't sure whether Parallel Universes existed. But now, I am!"

Natasha fell into thought. She hadn't been sure before, but now she was—did Rimuru mean she was an Earthling who had crossed over from a Parallel Universe?

"You think I'd believe that? I don't believe humans on a parallel Earth would even have Superpowers!"

Rimuru gazed into the distance, her expression melancholy. "That's because you don't know what we've been through!"

Natasha immediately grew curious. "Can you tell me more?"

"In our universe, the Solar System where Earth is located has three suns. Their movements are extremely irregular, and they have governed the destruction and rebirth of hundreds of civilizations."

"When all three suns appeared at perihelion, temperatures would soar, rivers would run dry, and living creatures would perish. When all three suns appeared at aphelion, global temperatures would fall to their lowest point, every ocean would freeze over, and the world would completely enter an Ice Age..."

"Only when the three suns happened to be in just the right positions could life be reborn and civilization rebuilt. In order to adapt to such an extreme environment, the humans on our planet evolved!"

Three suns? Natasha was completely dumbfounded. Are you telling me a science-fiction story?

What the hell kind of Solar System has three suns?!

Yet her professional discipline still made her forcibly hold it in. "What kind of evolution did you gain?"

Although she felt that Rimuru's words were full of holes, Natasha keenly caught the word "evolution."

This was a perfect opportunity to obtain information about Rimuru's Superpowers. Naturally, she wouldn't let it pass!

Rimuru didn't hide anything and immediately transformed into her Slime form.

Looking at the soft blue blob before her, about the same as jelly, Natasha's beautiful eyes widened.

What a sight!

Just a moment ago, she had been a beautiful girl, yet in the blink of an eye, she had turned into a little blue ball.

She wasn't dreaming, was she?

Natasha couldn't help reaching out and poking it with a finger. The instant she did, her heart gave a violent leap.

That soft, springy feeling was so nice. She really wanted to hold her in her arms!

Wait, she was an agent who had undergone rigorous training. How could she have such thoughts?

Could this be some kind of seductive ability?

Forcibly suppressing the urge to knead Rimuru, Natasha asked curiously, "Is this the evolution you were talking about?"

Turning into this soft little blob without limbs or facial features—no matter how she looked at it, it seemed more like degeneration!

Rimuru coughed twice and once again switched into full-on bullshitting mode.

"In order to adapt to an extremely harsh environment, Earthlings were forced to learn all kinds of Superpowers. For example, Temperature Change Resistance. With this ability, changes in external temperature wouldn't affect our state of survival."

"Temperature Change Resistance?!"

Natasha's eyes widened. It was simply unbelievable. Was this really something humans could achieve?

But when she thought of those three suns, Natasha suddenly felt that Superpowers adapted to such an extreme environment actually made perfect sense somehow.

"That's right. Natural selection—survival of the fittest. Nature's choices are just that cruel!"

Natasha was speechless. For a moment, she actually felt like, What you said makes so much sense that I have nothing to say.

She had carried out so many missions, but this one was the most unforgettable.

This story really was science fiction!

"Is there more?"

Rimuru said, "Of course! Water is the source of life. How could anyone survive without water? When all three suns were at perihelion, all moisture would completely evaporate, and the land would become utterly dry. For survival, for the continuation of civilization, we Earthlings could only work hard to stockpile it. Every drop saved in ordinary times became a Pacific Ocean in hard times!"

Natasha rolled her eyes, feeling as though her intelligence had been insulted.

"When all three suns are at perihelion, the land is completely dry. How could you stockpile water? Bury water tanks in the Earth's core?"

Rimuru said, "The wisdom of mortals! Life is the greatest miracle in the world! As the philosophers say, people are forced into greatness, and human potential is limitless. To adapt to an environment with extreme water shortages, the Stomachs of us Earthlings evolved!"

Huh?

Natasha nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. Her Stomach had... evolved?

Are you messing with me?

Rimuru said solemnly, "To endure the waterless Arid Era, we would store several lakes' worth of water in our Stomachs beforehand. You definitely won't believe me if I just tell you, so I'd better demonstrate it for you!"

Huh?

This could be demonstrated too?

Natasha felt like her brain simply wasn't enough anymore, and before she knew it, Rimuru had led her to the swimming pool.

After returning to human form, Rimuru rolled her shoulders and said, "Be prepared for danger in times of peace. To deal with the Arid Era, I stored half a lake's worth of water in my Stomach. I originally wanted to fill it completely, but there wasn't enough water in the lake!"

Rimuru opened her mouth and sprayed out the water from her Stomach.

She kept spraying for ten whole minutes, filling the entire pool.

Natasha was completely dumbfounded. Aiya Maya, it was real!

Was her stomach connected to Another Dimension or something?

Natasha felt like her entire worldview had been rewritten!

Afraid that it might be one of Rimuru's tricks, Natasha even reached out and tested it herself. It really was water!

Wait, there was an obvious flaw. "There aren't three suns in the Solar System. You're not from Earth at all, are you?"

Rimuru gazed up at the starry sky at a forty-five-degree angle, wearing a bright yet sorrowful expression.

"This is an even sadder story. It begins with an ancestor from a hundred generations ago. Back then, our Solar System had only one sun. We multiplied and thrived, and our civilization endured without end. Until one day, the sun rapidly aged, and Earth was no longer suitable for human survival..."

"Facing this desperate situation, the Human Federation Government launched the 'Wandering Earth' plan. All of humanity fled the Solar System together with Earth. The plan took 2,500 years and one hundred generations... But none of us expected our new home, four light-years away, to have three suns!"

Natasha: "..."

Every Earthling who saw those three suns would probably instinctively raise a middle finger at them and roar, "Fuck!"
