When Did She Recover?

Rinne held the penguin in her arms and couldn't help leaning closer to Huanyue. In a rare, almost coquettish tone unlike her usual self, she said, "Could you take a picture for me? As a memento."

"Of course." Qian Huanyue raised her phone and stepped into the frame too, their shoulders pressed together and their cheeks nearly touching.

"Say it with me." She flashed a bright peace sign at the camera.

"One, two, three."

She paused, her eyes curving into mischievous crescents.

"Qian Huanyue~"

Rinne froze for a moment.

Weren't they supposed to say "cheese"?

The thought lingered in her mind for only half a second.

Holding the penguin and leaning against Huanyue's shoulder, she faced the camera and repeated after her.

"One, two, three—"

She paused, her voice soft and smiling.

"Qian Huanyue~"

Click.

The image froze.

On the screen, the two girls were pressed close together. The silver-haired one held up a peace sign and smiled with particular flair, while the pink-haired one hugged a penguin, her eyes curved with delight, her smile brighter than ever before.

"It came out great." Huanyue looked down at the screen and nodded in satisfaction. "Rinne, look. Aren't we pretty?"

She handed over the phone.

Rinne leaned over to look, and sure enough, her eyes lit up. No matter what, she couldn't make the corners of her mouth stop curving upward.

"You look really happy."

Huanyue's voice came from beside her, tinged with teasing amusement. She took back her phone and scrolled through the photos. "Then let's get these printed together later."

"If we had an instant camera, it'd be even more convenient. We could hold the photos right after taking them, stick them on the wall, and stuff like that..."

"Should we go buy one, Huanyue-chan?"

Rinne's voice suddenly rang out.
