Background and History

Huanyue was once Qian Yue, a human whose prolonged illness left her isolated and dependent on her parents. After arriving in another world as a Spirit, she chose the name Qian Huanyue and embraced a life free from her former physical pain, though she continued to miss her parents 46 48 79. Mio Takamiya later identifies her as a genuine Spirit brought from another world by an incomplete Spirit Formula; the flawed summoning left her missing part of her spiritual power 47.

With no money after manifesting, Huanyue worked four hours handing out flyers for a dessert shop. She earned 7,200 yen and rediscovered her enjoyment of pudding and strawberry cake. After initially struggling with random teleportation, she learned to use Seraph of Thousand Blades to travel to a chosen location and reached Tenguu City 48.

Huanyue befriended a Kurumi clone by offering to share her spiritual power and later stayed at Kurumi’s base 3 11. She also grew close to Shiori Itsuka. On their first date, Huanyue encouraged Shiori to set aside her “Shido” disguise, but avoided a kiss that might seal her powers: she was not ready to give them up while Kurumi, Nia, and other Spirits still faced danger 14. She later told Kotori outright that she was satisfied with her powers and did not want to be sealed 34.

Appearance

Huanyue has long silver hair, violet eyes, and a reported height of 160 cm. She commonly wears white dresses, though she can change her clothing with spiritual power 18 26 53.

Personality

Huanyue is playful and quick to tease, but repeatedly puts herself at risk to protect others. She avoids killing AST members, offers help to the endangered Quasi-Spirit Feiyi Xiang, and moves her allies to safety before firing a destructive attack 16 41 44. She is also easily flustered when someone responds to her teasing with equally direct affection 11 12.

Her cheerfulness can conceal fear of rejection. Remembering her illness and isolation, she recognizes that helping others has become a way to reassure herself that she is useful rather than a burden 79. She tends to face danger alone, but later acknowledges First-Meeting Kurumi’s worry and begins to accept help from her friends 109 173.

Huanyue’s Angel has no fixed physical form. It can manifest as a sword, divide into numerous flying weapons, or reassemble as cannons 18 23 62.

Story Role and Major Arcs

• DEM and Nia: Huanyue fights DEM alongside Kurumi clones to locate the imprisoned Nia. Although Ellen wounds her during the operation, Huanyue survives and later works with Kotori to address a Realizer implanted in Nia’s brain 23 24 27 32 86.
• Neighboring World: She defeats the Puppeteer Supanye and thousands of dolls in the Tenth Domain, then defeats the White Queen while protecting Liyinmeng 41 44 62. In the Ninth Domain, she also prepares for and gives an idol performance 46 79 83.
• Amnesia: Huanyue later awakens without her memories. She does not recognize Shiori, but accepts her guidance and shows instinctive concern for her; her memories subsequently return 134 150.
• Past and identity: Huanyue eventually explains that her current personality is one aspect of her original self. Other shallow consciousnesses can surface under emotional strain, reflecting burdens she has unconsciously divided rather than wholly separate people 235.
