As a monk with a compassionate heart, Bunpuku had never wanted to take part in the slaughter between ninja. Releasing a Tailed Beast inside a village, where countless innocent civilians would die, was especially unthinkable.

It went against everything Bunpuku believed in. But as Sunagakure's only Jinchūriki, he had no choice but to join this attack.

Rather than live with guilt for the rest of his life, he would atone with his death.

Sunagakure might call Monk Bunpuku a hero after his death. Many Konoha civilians, though, would hate him to the bone.

Fugaku did not linger. The Konoha shinobi intensified their attacks, and Explosive Tags detonated one after another. Dust swallowed Fugaku again. Black mist spread around his body, and in the blink of an eye, he vanished.

Near Shukaku's feet, Fugaku picked up several handfuls of sand infused with Shukaku's Chakra. The sand was part of Shukaku's flesh, and he quickly sealed it inside a scroll.

He already had flesh from Four-Tails. Now he had flesh from One-Tail as well. He could keep both as strategic reserves; they might prove useful someday.

Orochimaru had managed to grow a complete horn from a few scraps of Eight-Tails. This flesh might have even greater uses.

Fugaku released Black Mist Invisibility and left the area. Shukaku was different from Nine-Tails; their Chakra recovery rates were nowhere near the same. At this level of injury, Shukaku would likely need a long time to recover completely.

The Sealing Team could easily seal Shukaku before then.

Fugaku was too close to Shukaku here. The beast was weak, but even a stray attack might seriously injure him.

"Hokage, I found One-Tail's Jinchūriki's body. He released the seal and let One-Tail out. He's dead."

The Third Hokage's face grew grave. He had studied Sunagakure's Tailed Beast
