Homura was now the Hokage Assistant. Though the position carried less authority than his old one, he still had plenty to handle. He was chiefly responsible for assigning the former Root Ninja to their new posts.
The Hokage's days were too busy for him to spend hours assigning teams according to each person's strengths.
Black Fox knocked on the door to Homura's office and entered.
Homura glanced at him in surprise. Former Root Ninja rarely came to see him; they generally waited for orders from the village.
The sight of Black Fox brought Danzo to mind again. Lately, traces of Danzo had appeared all over the Shinobi World, and many reports claimed he had appeared in person. Konoha had sent out several teams of Ninja, but all had come back empty-handed.
The village suspected it was a Feint by Danzo, meant to throw Konoha off his trail. He had done much the same when he suddenly appeared in the Land of Rain: by the time Konoha sent Ninja after him, he had likely already left.
"Lord Homura."
Homura nodded. "You're becoming more and more like ordinary people. The Hokage and I are glad to see it.
"Did you come because there's a department you'd like to join? You Root Ninja made considerable sacrifices for Konoha's stability. I'll do my best to accommodate you."
"Lord Homura, I received systematic training as a Medical Ninja. I'd like to continue studying at Konoha Hospital and contribute to the village's medical work."
Homura nodded at Black Fox's answer. "That's an excellent idea. Now that the Medical Reform is underway, we urgently need people skilled in Medical Ninjutsu.
"Tsunade will probably be delighted to have another capable person at Konoha Hospital. I'll write you a letter of recommendation. Just give it to her."
