The Many Uses of the Mammal Breeding Room, and Underground Level Five

Fang had already gone to check the monitoring console on the first floor.

Yu Yuan had told her not to raise the alarm. It would only make Marsil and Dai Le nervous.

Doctor did not need to fight for now, either. She could focus on her research.

On Underground Level Four, Dai Le was sketching out plans for the space with pen and paper. The little old man had a red pencil tucked behind his ear and was so absorbed in his work that he did not notice Yu Yuan walk up behind him.

"Dai Le, what are you working on?"

The sudden voice startled Dai Le. When he saw it was Yu Yuan, he smiled and held up his Notebook.

"Take a look. What do you think of this layout?"

The Notebook showed a floor plan of Underground Level Four. Dai Le had divided it into a mammal breeding area, the Insect Breeding Area, the Planting Area, and the Special Breeding Area.

"Here's what I'm thinking. This floor has 600 square meters. After subtracting corridors and other shared space, we have at most 580 square meters to work with..."

Dai Le walked Yu Yuan through the plan.

"I checked the Kerry Hill Sheep. There are seven: two rams and five ewes. You've already bred them, so let's assume all five ewes conceived. Their gestation period is usually about five months, and they generally have one lamb each. That would give us twelve sheep. At fifteen square meters per sheep, we'd need 180 square meters. That's enough space for the Mammal Breeding Room for now."

"The Insect Breeding Room would get around sixty square meters, and forty should be enough for the Special Breeding Area. We could use the remaining three hundred square meters for planting. What do you think
