Background and History

Before entering the Wasteland World, Yu Yuan lived an ordinary life playing games at home. He establishes Fish Abyss Shelter in an underground structure connected to Green Forest City’s sewers. When offered his first Fate Gift, he chooses a newspaper rack over daily food or random items, valuing its intelligence despite the lethal Slaughter Card attached to the gift 2 14.

The newspaper directs him to supplies left at Phoenix Tree Apartments. He scavenges a kukri, crossbow, food, and construction materials, then returns safely enough to unlock the City Shadows title route. On a later trip, he kills the drifter Key to clear the Slaughter Card and acquire Lockpicking. He survives Key’s companions and negotiates his way past another armed survivor 3 4 6 8 9 10.

Yu Yuan uses scavenged goods and trades to develop his shelter. When a typhoon threatens to flood the sewers, he seals access points, installs a floodproof door, and upgrades the bathroom’s drainage. A breach still admits water during the storm, forcing him to make a temporary barrier and later repair it with cement and bricks 12 13 23 24 29 30 33 34.

His intelligence-gathering also draws him into factional conflicts. He scavenges equipment during a Marauder Prison–Black Shield Police Department battle, then uses an information card to uncover a covert arrangement between Marauder Prison and Burning Fortress. His raid on their supplies leaves Burning Fortress blaming Marauder Prison; the outcome unlocks his Redirect the Calamity tactic 25 26 40 42 43.

Appearance

Yu Yuan’s normal recorded height is 1.78 metres. Equipping Miemie changes his build, but the transformation ends when he unequips her 32.

• Miemie equipped: Grows to 1.88 metres and develops a leaner, more muscular build 32.
• Equipped-form markings: A black sheep-head tattoo covers his chest, with spiral-horn markings extending over his shoulders and arms 32.

Personality

Yu Yuan favors information, preparation, and escape routes over impulsive fights. He waits for darkness before scavenging, avoids forcing a noisy locked door, and negotiates with a dangerous attacker when a direct fight offers little benefit 2 3 4 9 10.

Survival makes him willing to ambush enemies and exploit battles for supplies, but he remains concerned about his moral limits. After finding the severely injured Mona, he refuses to use her to clear the Lust Card; he frees her, leaves her food and a weapon, and accepts that his own deadline remains unresolved 19 21. He is similarly wary of depending on Miemie’s equipped strength, reasoning that he must still be able to survive without it 32.

Fate Gifts and Cards

Yu Yuan chooses among Fate Gifts, but the gifts can impose lethal card conditions. Clearing a card can award a Fate Point, which he has used to acquire a skill or convert an eligible target into a treasure 2 6 15 32 46.

• His newspaper rack supplies recurring intelligence; he also buys a city map and an Inside Information card 2 14 34.
• He saves the Inside Information card until he needs to investigate the Burning Fortress–Marauder Prison alliance 34 40.
