Ch. 1Yu Xiaogang? Take That~
Key plot points and events
- Gu Mingyuan awakens in the Star Dou Great Forest, badly wounded after an attack by a Bone-Shaking Ape. His injuries begin healing on their own.
- A system reveals that he has crossed into the Douluo world and grants him three talent draws:
- Otherworldly Twin Souls, which will provide two adapted martial souls.
- Tang Sect Secrets ProMax, an upgraded set of Tang Sect techniques.
- Grandmaster’s Remnant Soul, a fragment of Yu Xiaogang that offers guidance.
- Learning that the story is set 10,000 years after Tang San’s ascension, while Huo Yuhao is heading to the forest for his first Soul Ring, Gu Mingyuan transfers Yu Xiaogang’s remnant soul to Huo Yuhao.
- Gu Mingyuan receives the other talents. They grant him the Golden Jade Body, a Demon Contract, and knowledge of Tang Sect techniques—including the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Purple Emperor Eyes, Golden Jade Hand, Ghostly Shadow Trace, and hidden-weapon lore. He has the theory, but still needs practice to master it.
- Yu Xiaogang briefly appears in Gu Mingyuan’s Sea of Spirit and launches into his familiar boastful introduction. Gu Mingyuan rejects him, and the system transports him to Huo Yuhao instead.
- At a stream near the forest, Huo Yuhao senses the new presence in his mind. Yu Xiaogang begins his introduction again.
Character developments and interactions
- Gu Mingyuan moves from shock and pain to quick, pragmatic decision-making. He eagerly accepts the powerful talents but refuses to keep Yu Xiaogang, choosing to pass the unwanted “guidance” to Huo Yuhao.
- Yu Xiaogang is portrayed as pompous and self-important, repeating his claims of expertise even after being abruptly transferred.
- Huo Yuhao has not yet met Yu Xiaogang directly, but his mental sensitivity lets him detect the soul fragment as soon as it arrives.
Significant themes
- Luck and opportunity: Gu’s unusually strong draws contrast with his poor luck in his previous life.
- Power comes with effort: His talents provide immense potential and knowledge, but not instant mastery.
- Self-interest and comic misfortune: Gu secures the benefits for himself while redirecting the irritating remnant soul to someone else.
- Legacy and mentorship: The chapter plays humorously with the idea of a “wise elder” guiding a protagonist, making Yu Xiaogang’s transfer to Huo Yuhao the punchline.
