Background / History

Ming Xi grew up believing she was the Eldest Princess’s daughter. The princess neglected her, leaving her vulnerable to mistreatment by household servants, but the emperor and Crown Prince remained close to her. After joining Endless Peak, she became its youngest disciple 10 13.

She rescued the injured Wen Yan and spent valuable pills treating him. When she began hearing Wen Que’s private thoughts, she learned that Wen Yan was the Demon Race’s prince and might be exploiting her sympathy. She refused to shield him from the elders who came to retrieve him, defended herself against their accusation of abduction, and broke with him 1 2 3 4 5.

During a visit to the imperial capital, the Eldest Princess declared that Ming Xi was not her biological daughter and did not deserve the Luo surname. The Crown Prince defended Ming Xi’s place in their family. The emperor subsequently granted her the surname Ming, the title Princess Protector of the Realm, three territories, and an iron certificate of immunity. He publicly identified her as a descendant of the Ming Family, while ordering an investigation into her origins 12 13 14 15.

Personality

Ming Xi is outspoken, confrontational, and quick to help someone she believes is vulnerable. Wen Yan initially counts on her soft heart to secure her protection; after recognizing that her kindness may be used against her, she becomes more guarded without abandoning her concern for others 3 4 17.

She is proud and admits she does not let slights go easily. Her exchanges with Wen Que are often prickly, but she values her senior sister’s warnings and acts protectively when Wen Que is hurt. She also puts Qiu Jinyou’s safety ahead of her own wish to take Wen Que home 7 8 19 20.
