Background / History

Wen Que crossed into this world fifteen years before the story begins. Although she cultivated diligently, she came to see herself as the unimpressive member of an exceptionally talented group of disciples 1.

After being struck by lightning, she recalls details of a story that seem to match events around her. She recognizes the injured newcomer called Wen Yan as Wen Jinsheng, a runaway Demon Race prince, and her private warnings help Luo Mingxi question his behavior. When Demon Race elders come for him, Wen Que pushes him into their view and gives them a sound-recording stone before they leave 1 2 4 5.

Wen Que next fears that Qiu Jinyou’s fiancé, Lan Yezhou, intends to kill her to advance his Heartless Sword cultivation. Qiu brings Wen Que to her family home, where the warning prompts an investigation. By the time Qiu returns to Endless Peak, she has stabbed Lan and escaped his intended betrayal 5 6 24.

Wen Que has a slight build and an innocent-looking face that contrasts with her loud, irreverent inner commentary 2 22.

Personality

Wen Que enjoys gossip and spectacle, and her thoughts are often sharper than her innocent expression suggests. She is self-deprecating about her cultivation and would prefer a comfortable life to intensive training 2 8 24.

She is also protective of her fellow disciples. She tries to prevent Qiu’s marriage from becoming fatal, defends Ming Xi against Wen Yan, and worries about Lin Chunhe being exploited. Her instinct to warn Ming Xi during Wen Yan’s attack puts her directly in the path of his pink smoke 5 18 19 24.

Wen Que remembers a story whose characters and events resemble those around her. Her recollections identify Wen Yan’s concealed identity and warn of possible betrayals, but she notices that events do not always follow the timeline she expects 1 5 7.

Lingering Tribulation Lightning

Lightning remains integrated with Wen Que’s sea of consciousness without causing substantial damage. Yan Qi considers forcibly removing it risky and instead finds a method to help her refine its power; the outcome is not yet shown 23 24.
