One Punch Was Enough
Zhang Yang sneered. It wasn't his place to say any of this, but he wasn't angry. He would take the opportunity to see what kind of opponent he was dealing with.
"Xu Mingxian, right?" Zhang Yang said with a grin.
In fact, Zhang Yang knew Xu Mingxian. During his thousand years of experience, Xu Mingxian had been one of his "clients," and Zhang Yang had gathered information on him.
Xu Mingxian was well versed in Unorthodox Methods. He had cornered nearly every data-falsification service on the E-commerce Platform, manufacturing hype for others at a profit.
As online commerce grew, the trade had become highly sought after. Xu Mingxian's company had grown from one man with one computer to more than two hundred people and two hundred computers, all kept exceptionally busy. That alone showed how much online commerce had flourished.
"Well, look at that... Even a good-for-nothing has started paying attention to the outside world. You actually know who I am. Then again, of course you do. I'm the leader in this industry." Xu Mingxian laughed.
It was laughable, pitiful, and sad. Some people felt no shame in what they did, but took pride in it instead. Whether society was advancing or declining, this man had no idea.
When enemies met, tempers usually flared.
But Zhang Yang wasn't about to lose his head.
"Good-for-nothing, what did you come back for? Who the hell is as useless as you? The moment something happens, you run back here to hide. Aren't you ashamed?" Yang Su mocked Zhang Yang in front of an outsider.
"Zhang Yang, you've dragged this out long enough. Just get divorced. That would be best for both you and Xiao Xue, wouldn't it?" Cheng Hai seemed free of anger. He spoke to Zhang Yang calmly.
"I won't get divorced, and neither will Xiao Xue." Zhang Yang made the declaration to Cheng Hai and Yang Su with his chest held high.
Then, ignoring their expressions, Zhang Yang turned to Xu Mingxian, who was sprawled on the sofa. "And you can get lost."
Zhang Yang had been holding back his anger all along. If Cheng Hai and Yang Su hadn't been there, and if they hadn't been at home, he might have dealt with Xu Mingxian by force already. Since when did an outsider get to throw his weight around in the Cheng Family's home?
Besides, Xu Mingxian was here to steal his wife.
"Good-for-nothing, show my guest some respect. You're the one who should get out of the Cheng Family's home." Zhang Yang's firm refusal infuriated Yang Su.
Yang Su needed to keep pressuring Zhang Yang until he gave in and signed the divorce papers. Otherwise, the delay would drag on. By the time the court process was finished and the divorce went through, Cheng Company would be ruined.
In the past, Zhang Yang would have backed down. Today, he couldn't.
"What the hell are you? What capable man becomes a live-in son-in-law? Do you have your own company? Any status? Any money?"
"You have none of those things, and you're useless besides. You've been married all these years, and you haven't even managed to get Xiao Xue pregnant. If you're useless and broke, stop taking up a place you don't deserve."
"Now the Cheng Family is in trouble. They need five million to survive. Do you have it? If you did, if you could come up with it, why would I be here? Why would Auntie Yang have asked me for help?"
Xu Mingxian's sense of superiority burst forth. He rattled on, smugly listing his own advantages to show up Zhang Yang's supposed inadequacy.
Zhang Yang fell silent and glared at him, but it had no effect. Xu Mingxian clearly thought Zhang Yang's anger was nothing but a powerless man's fury.
"Life is hard enough without you dragging someone else down. You can't make Xiao Xue happy, so you have to divorce her. Let her be free of you, and I'll marry her."
Thoroughly pleased with himself, Xu Mingxian rose and walked over to Cheng Dongxue.
"Xiao Xue, divorce this good-for-nothing and marry me. I'll give you a Porsche sports car right away. I'll make you happy."
Perhaps Xu Mingxian knew Cheng Dongxue's decision was crucial. He turned his efforts on her, trying to tempt her with a luxury car.
"Impossible. Xiao Xue won't be swayed by your flashy car. She isn't greedy," Lin Xiaofei said, casting a pointed sidelong glance at Yang Su.
"Zhang Yang..."
Lin Xiaofei touched Zhang Yang's arm and felt the strength in it. Whether in bed or in a fight, Zhang Yang was formidable. A man like Xu Mingxian couldn't withstand him. She was afraid Zhang Yang would become so angry that he'd kill this lecher with a single punch.
"Leave her. You're poor, so I can give you some money. Five hundred thousand..."
Xu Mingxian raised one hand and spread all five fingers.
Zhang Yang sneered.
"One million. Don't get greedy. Take a million and go back to the countryside. That's enough for you to live like a wealthy farmer."
Xu Mingxian kept trying to buy him off. A million was indeed a lot of money, but there was no chance Zhang Yang would be tempted.
"Two million. Leave Xiao Xue immediately, and I'll write the check right now. That's my final offer."
"You—"
Xu Mingxian held up two fingers, though the amount they represented had changed. Cheng Dongxue grew uneasy. As far as she knew, Zhang Yang had never seen that kind of money. Two million might sway him.
What angered her more was that Xu Mingxian was treating her like an object, putting a price on her and bidding for her right in front of her.
"Two million? Good. That'll cover your medical bills!"
Zhang Yang forced the words through clenched teeth.
Smack...
Crash—
The moment he finished speaking, Zhang Yang threw a punch. His fist struck Xu Mingxian squarely in the stomach and sent him into the coffee table. The glass shattered, spilling tea and fruit across the floor.
Xu Mingxian's face twisted in pain. Clutching his stomach with one hand and bracing himself against the floor with the other, he struggled to get up, but couldn't.
"Zhang Yang..."
Cheng Dongxue and Lin Xiaofei cried out in unison. What they had feared had happened after all. They hadn't managed to stop him.
"Good-for-nothing—"
Yang Su was stunned, but the habitual insult came out before she could think. She rushed over to help Xu Mingxian.
"You... You're a dead man—"
Zhang Yang hadn't used even thirty percent of his strength. He'd been afraid of killing a man whose body had been worn down by drink and women. Xu Mingxian was in pain and would have bruises, but his internal organs were unharmed.
"You have three minutes to call for backup. After that, I'll personally see you out. I guarantee there'll be a vehicle waiting to take you away."
Zhang Yang's voice was cold.
Cheng Dongxue and Lin Xiaofei finally breathed easier when they saw Cheng Hai and Yang Su help Xu Mingxian to his feet. He clearly wasn't seriously hurt.
"Zhang Yang, why did you have to be so impulsive?" Lin Xiaofei was more worried about how strong he was. It would be far too easy for Zhang Yang to kill someone. Fortunately, he had held back instead of striking to kill.
"You heard him. Get lost, or an ambulance will come for you." Cheng Dongxue felt a trace of comfort. Zhang Yang would do anything for her.
They had to persuade Xu Mingxian to leave. Zhang Yang meant what he said. If he struck again, it might really take two million in medical bills to put Xu Mingxian back together—and an ambulance to pick him up.
"You..."
Clutching his stomach, Xu Mingxian shook off Cheng Hai and Yang Su.
"You two deal with this good-for— and Cheng Dongxue too. If she marries me, we can forget about this. If she doesn't, there'll be trouble. None of you will have an easy time of it."
Xu Mingxian gritted his teeth against the pain and forced out the words.
"..." Zhang Yang stepped forward. Lin Xiaofei immediately moved in front of him and held him back. Otherwise, the scene might turn bloody again.
