Who's Stronger Than Me?
Feng Ling happily drove off in the Small Truck.
Only then did Su Yuqing, who was responsible for wrapping things up, begin to get busy.
He needed to inspect the scene, direct the Special Forces in searching the entire Villa District, and, once it was confirmed safe, notify the cleanup crew to enter. The cleanup crew would deal with the corpses and remains, then disinfect the entire area.
In addition, Su Yuqing had to photograph the scene, collect samples, dictate an incident report, and organize it into a detailed written version for submission to his superiors the next day.
Sometimes, he even had to make a PowerPoint.
"Captain, the search is complete. No suspicious individuals were found," a team member reported.
"There were three Xenomorphs at the scene. One has gone offline, and two are confirmed dead. Both died from severed heads and necks," another team member said.
Su Yuqing swiped across his phone screen, reviewing the photos of the Xenomorphs.
One was a charred, solidified humanoid bloodstain, burned black by fire.
Another had melted into the filthy water of the Swimming Pool, leaving half a jelly-like limb sprawled beside the pool.
The last was the most spectacular: a massive corpse, fat as a small Mountain, lying on the ground and continuously oozing acid. Not only had its head been chopped to pieces, but its ankles had been completely severed with clean cuts.
Approval showed in Su Yuqing's eyes.
"Xenomorphs differ from humans. Even if all their internal organs are riddled with bullets, it won't threaten their lives. But if you aim at their limbs and facial features while shooting, you can still effectively limit their mobility."
Su Yuqing showed the photos to the nearby Special Forces members.
"For example, this Xenomorph can secrete strong acid. If we happen to encounter one and have no sufficiently destructive weapons on hand, then concentrating fire on its lower limbs is the optimal strategy."
The Special Forces consisted of elite special police officers without Cards. They usually served as support units and acted alongside Inspectors.
But Qingjiang City had very few Inspectors left. Therefore, under Su Yuqing's command, the Special Forces often had to shoulder the main offensive role as well. Understanding each Xenomorph's traits and weaknesses had become an essential combat skill.
The team members gathered around Su Yuqing, excitement evident on their faces to varying degrees.
Witnessing three slain Xenomorphs was undoubtedly a huge boost to morale.
Especially after the massacre at Times Square, seeing Xenomorphs die such miserable deaths made it impossible not to feel deeply satisfied!
"She's so strong," one team member sighed.
"Taking on three Xenomorphs alone! She's seriously incredible!"
"Could she be stronger than Brother Zhou?" someone quietly asked.
"I'd say she's a little stronger. After all, Brother Zhou has had a Card for three months, while it's only her first day. Her future is promising..."
The roar of a motorcycle interrupted their discussion.
Everyone instinctively moved aside to both sides of the road.
A modified motorcycle charged into the Villa District, braking hard before Su Yuqing, making a sharp turn, and coming to a steady stop. A young man in a punk leather jacket swung his long leg over and got off the bike—
"Who's stronger than me?" Zhou Diao stood before the crowd with a smile, barely concealed violence in his eyes.
The team members fell silent at once.
Su Yuqing caught the smell of alcohol and immediately rebuked him harshly. "You drank again? You're driving under the influence."
Zhou Diao raised an eyebrow and smiled.
He had a youthful baby face, and when he smiled, his Tiger Teeth showed. But his temper was awful, and every word out of his mouth was arrogant and domineering. "I'm the god of Qingjiang City! What's wrong with having a few drinks? Who the hell dares to control me?!"
"Only by keeping a clear head at all times can you freely control your Card Ability. Alcohol will only increase the risk of losing control!" Su Yuqing said grimly.
"So naggy~" Zhou Diao looked utterly unconcerned. He looked around and sniffed the air. "It stinks. What the hell is that smell... Are all the Xenomorphs dead?"
Su Yuqing was used to this. Zhou Diao's Card traits gave him an exceptionally sharp sense of smell and hearing, so it was hardly surprising that he had heard everyone chatting from far away.
"They're all dead. The cleanup crew has already been notified to enter." Su Yuqing frowned. "Why did you come here? Didn't I tell you to rest at home?"
"Damn it, you said there were four Xenomorphs. How could I not come?"
Though Zhou Diao complained, his gaze fell on the tire tracks on the ground. He crouched down, sniffed them again, and muttered, "One got away?"
Su Yuqing perked up and immediately asked, "Can you locate its hiding place?"
Zhou Diao stood and followed the tire tracks forward. After walking several dozen steps, he stopped and searched the air for its scent.
A few seconds later, he turned to Su Yuqing. "Check the road surveillance footage. The Xenomorph is in the Truck."
Su Yuqing froze slightly, unable to believe it. "That's impossible."
"Huh?" Zhou Diao was baffled. "Is something wrong with your brain? When has my nose ever been wrong?"
Su Yuqing's expression turned grim. "Feng Ling left those tire tracks. She just killed three Xenomorphs here, then drove away in a Truck. After my team arrived, we inspected the scene, but we didn't search the cargo compartment... Are you sure you aren't mistaken?"
Su Yuqing found it difficult to accept. How could a Xenomorph be in Feng Ling's vehicle?
Zhou Diao rolled his eyes. "I smelled the recovery potion Xenomorphs love to use. Only Xenomorphs use that kind of medicine. Do you think I'd get it wrong?"
Then he began gloating. "You were praising her for being so amazing. She really is amazing—she fooled every last one of you. Harboring a fugitive Xenomorph... Could she be a Xenomorph too?"
"That's impossible," a team member said in shock. "She was ambushed by a Xenomorph at the Supervision Bureau..."
"So what? Maybe it was infighting among the Xenomorphs!" Zhou Diao interrupted loudly.
"It's unlikely that Feng Ling is a Xenomorph." Su Yuqing considered it carefully, then analyzed in earnest. "I talked with her, and there was nothing wrong with her speech or behavior. The Xenomorph scent in the vehicle could be residue from before, or perhaps a Xenomorph hid inside while she wasn't on guard. If that's the case, Feng Ling is in a dangerous situation right now."
Zhou Diao laughed dismissively. "Whether there's something wrong with her or not, won't we find out if we go take a look? Where is she now?"
Su Yuqing's face darkened. "I was worried she wouldn't have a suitable place to stay, so I gave her the key to the Xiuyuan Road Apartment."
"That saves me the trouble of looking." Zhou Diao turned and got back on his motorcycle, the corner of his mouth curling up. "I'll go see whether she's stronger than me."
"Zhou Diao! Don't act recklessly!" Su Yuqing's voice suddenly rose, his tone extremely stern. "Whatever problems Feng Ling may have, we need a thorough investigation before reaching any conclusion!"
"What? You finally found a rookie with a Card, so now you're treating her like your precious treasure?" Zhou Diao sneered. "Qingjiang is under my protection. As long as I'm not dead, who the hell does she think she is?!"
After delivering that threat, he did not spare Su Yuqing another glance and sped away on his motorcycle.
The team members left behind looked at one another.
"Captain Su, should we send someone to take a look?" one team member cautiously asked.
Su Yuqing watched the motorcycle rapidly disappear into the distance and pondered for a moment. "Zhou Diao should know his limits..."
He also wanted to know what Zhou Diao's probing would reveal.
