Feng Ling's eyes turned icy cold as she swiftly crossed her two Bone Blades in front of her to block the Contaminant's attack!
The flashlight's beam shone directly on the Contaminant, revealing every joint and every vein in stark clarity—
This mutated body combined the appearance of the Bug Monsters from before with human hair and skin, the two biological traits grotesquely fused together. Its form was even larger, and its neck could stretch several meters long like a geoduck clam.
The jaw teeth at the front of the neck tightly clamped onto a human head, squeezing and pulling to force the face into bizarre, exaggerated expressions, while the vocal cords mimicked human speech:
"I want... cards..."
Feng Ling raised her Bone Blade and stabbed fiercely at that face!
The Contaminant's neck retracted quickly, making her miss, and then the head slid deep into the throat. The jaw teeth at the neck opening turned outward in a savage display, lunging at Feng Ling like a harvester reaper, reeking of blood!
At a time like this, she should swing her Bone Blade and cut off that flexible, stretching neck!
But the narrow passage limited her movements; the Bone Blade couldn't make wide swings, only thrust forward.
Feng Ling was furious inside. She quickly retreated while thrusting at the Contaminant, wishing she could leave this cramped space and go somewhere more open to fight freely.
The Contaminant's massive jaw teeth kept opening and closing, and her Bone Blades gradually fell into a disadvantage. Even though she struck the target several times, the wounds from her thrusts didn't cause the Contaminant any noticeable pain.
Feng Ling had killed bugs before; she knew well that she had to either split the enemy in two or completely pierce through its body to kill it.
The holes poked by her thrusts were nothing to the Contaminant.
The passage was almost at its end. If she kept retreating, they'd reach the nearly vertical pit in the parking lot, where they'd need to use a rope to climb up.
Once forced back there, she'd be even more passive.
Huangfu Miaomiao was panicking too. With only one arm, she couldn't climb up without Feng Ling's help.
At that moment, the Contaminant's jaw teeth opened again, revealing the human face deep in its throat.
The face was squeezed into a creepy smile, as if it already foresaw both their deaths, even letting out a "heh heh" laugh.
Feng Ling suddenly felt something was wrong.
Super Strong Super's face had been shot. Why was there no scar on this face?
Was this face Super Strong Super's?
The features were stretched too far, the skull twisted out of shape—it was impossible to tell the original appearance.
Whether it was or wasn't, she had to find a way to change this stifling situation.
How?
Since piercing the neck, back armor, and appendages didn't deal enough damage, she'd aim for its weak point!
Feng Ling gritted her teeth and thrust her Bone Blade straight between the jaw teeth!
She made herself move as fast as possible, but when the Bone Blade entered the mouthparts, it was still clamped tightly by the jaw teeth on both sides!
Pain surged through her. Feng Ling's whole body tensed, cold sweat pouring from her forehead.
It was like a tug-of-war: she wouldn't pull out the Bone Blade, and the Contaminant refused to let go of its jaw teeth!
A slight dizziness began to blur her vision, and she heard a sound like metal scraping across a blackboard—then a crack! The immense biting force snapped through the Bone Blade!
Feng Ling cried out in pain, her body trembling uncontrollably from the agony.
Creak, creak...
The jaw teeth kept applying pressure, and her Bone Blade was about to be chewed to pieces!
Huangfu Miaomiao hid behind Feng Ling, tears forced out by the sight. She raised her hammer, hesitating whether to help, but the moment she lifted it, Feng Ling shot her a vicious glare!
"Get back!" Feng Ling growled, then turned and thrust her other Bone Blade between the two jaw teeth!
Her eyes were bloodshot, her face covered in cold sweat, her gums bleeding from the strain. She looked utterly wretched, but Huangfu Miaomiao read an unbelievable exhilaration in her blazing gaze.
"Crazy... she's really crazy..." Huangfu Miaomiao muttered tremblingly. She couldn't understand what kind of person Feng Ling was!
Feng Ling took a deep breath, forcing herself to get used to the immense pain transmitted through her Bone Blade.
Then she controlled the other Bone Blade, sawing with force like cutting a steak!—
The sharp serrations on the blade edge began to take effect. The Contaminant let out a roar, sensing Feng Ling's intent, and opened its jaw teeth to escape!
But Feng Ling wouldn't let it have its way!
The Bone Blade that had been bitten through tilted hard, locking onto the jaw teeth, while the other Bone Blade kept sawing through the bug's body like cutting wood!
The Contaminant's mouthparts were pinned fast, and the rest of its body thrashed wildly in the passage, writhing in desperation!
The entire passage shook, dust flying!
Feng Ling still didn't let go!
At the cost of one Bone Blade, she slowly sawed through the mouthparts, then the neck, then the chest, and then the belly armor and back shell...
Blood and mucus gushed out together. The struggling bug body was finally split open like meat cut with a dull knife, and the human head inside was ground to pieces.
The rumbling stopped.
The dust settled.
Feng Ling exhaled, collapsing weakly to sit on the ground, her back already soaked through.
She pulled out her bitten-through Bone Blade. Not only was there a palm-sized hole in it, but it was also covered in pitted cracks and bloodstained fissures, having lost all its sharpness and edge.
Huangfu Miaomiao, scared out of her wits, finally found her voice and said tearfully, "I don't have enough Points to exchange for a potion for you!"
Feng Ling sat on the ground to catch her breath, her face expressionless, and said, "That wasn't the Contaminant from just now."
"What?" Huangfu Miaomiao couldn't believe it. "You mean there's more than one Contaminant in the cave?"
"I don't know how many there are, but it definitely wasn't the same one." Feng Ling slowly stood up, leaning against the rock wall. "I put a Mark on that Contaminant. This one doesn't have it. Something's probably gone wrong on Zhou Diao's end."
Huangfu Miaomiao was at a loss. "Then, what do we do..."
"First get out, then save people." She turned and headed upward.
No matter what, she had to get the chip out first.
"But what about your injury?" Huangfu Miaomiao urged anxiously. "Can you recover in time? Maybe we should go back. If another Contaminant shows up, you won't be able to hold out..."
Feng Ling suddenly stopped in her tracks, turned around, and stared at Huangfu Miaomiao without a word.
Her face was submerged in darkness, her eyes obscure and unreadable, the blood at the corner of her mouth giving her a cold, vampire-like sharpness.
Huangfu Miaomiao's heart skipped a beat, and she forgot what she was about to say.
Feng Ling simply watched her in silence.
A few seconds later, she withdrew her gaze and continued walking forward.
Huangfu Miaomiao was so frightened by Feng Ling's demeanor that she dared not speak again.
What she didn't know was that Feng Ling was hungry again.
The moment she had cut open that Contaminant, an intense urge to feed had surged inside Feng Ling.
This feeling was familiar to Feng Ling, because when she had obtained the Killer Bee and Mantis cards, the same hunger to eat had arisen within her.
She couldn't possibly eat the corpses of Xenomorphs.
Nor could she stomach the filthy, ugly Contaminants.
So what should she eat?
Was it because she had been choosing the wrong food that her stomach was never satisfied? And so she had looked at Huangfu Miaomiao—
Small, tender, delicious, and nutritious.
Just a little sketch~
