With nowhere to go, she shut her eyes, hoping that if she could not see him, she could bear it.
But Chu Xiu meant to crush her resistance completely. He looked down at her coldly. "Open your eyes. Show me you mean it. If you satisfy me, I'll believe you're truly sorry."
"You have one minute to decide. You know what happens otherwise."
The seconds ticked by.
After a long struggle with herself, Ah Yin finally opened her eyes, resigned.
"You have to keep your word."
She looked up at him, seeking one last assurance.
Chu Xiu looked down at her, a smug smile curling his lips. "Don't worry. If you sincerely help me, I'll protect you."
"Mm."
Ah Yin drew a deep breath and slowly parted her red lips.
Meanwhile.
Though Shui Bing'er had brought the Bone Dagger over to the Man Faced Demon Spider's corpse, she did not start cutting it up right away. She strained to hear what Chu Xiu was doing.
Was he beating Ah Yin?
Or was he berating her, demanding to know why she had tried to harm him?
She waited a long time without hearing anything more from their direction. Bored, she began cutting up the Man Faced Demon Spider while keeping an ear out.

Just then, Chu Xiu finished straightening his leaf skirt and emerged from behind the tree with Ah Yin.
At Shui Bing'er's shout, his eyes lit up.
"What? Another one?"
He hurried over to her.
A dialog box appeared.
[Man Faced Demon Spider Core] Age: 17,000 years Mutation: Dazzling Effect: Grants the user the Man Faced Demon Spider's bloodline talent, Concealment.
Chu Xiu's breathing quickened.
This Core granted only one innate ability, but Concealment was so powerful that Extreme Long-Distance Vision and Sound Wave Perception combined could not compare.
"A Core? How is that possible?"
Ah Yin's shocked voice came from behind him.
As a former Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast, she knew how rare Cores were.
The Man Faced Demon Spider before them appeared to have cultivated for little more than ten thousand years. It should have been impossible for it to produce a Core.
"Nothing is impossible here," Chu Xiu said grimly. Without asking anyone else's opinion, he swallowed the Core.
A strange energy rose from his stomach and spread through his body.
The next moment.
Chu Xiu's figure swiftly vanished from Shui Bing'er's and Ah Yin's sight.
"It's Concealment! That Core grants Concealment to whoever eats it!" Shui Bing'er cried excitedly.
Though Chu Xiu had eaten the Core, Shui Bing'er was as happy as if she had gained the ability herself.
Besides, Chu Xiu had killed the Man Faced Demon Spider.
Without him, she would have died twice already.
She felt no envy or resentment at all.
Ah Yin, by contrast, felt a flash of envy when Chu Xiu vanished.
The Man Faced Demon Spider's Concealment could evade even mental detection. Sight, smell, and the other senses stood no chance of finding someone using it.
If she had that ability, she would never have to fear being hunted again.
