Chu Xiu was dumbfounded. He recognized this spirit beast, and knew it very well.
"What is it, Chu Xiu?"
Shui Bing'er asked anxiously, "Did you see that spirit beast? Is it really powerful?"
Chu Xiu shook his head and gave Shui Bing'er a look that was hard to describe. "No, this spirit beast isn't powerful at all. It's actually kind of ridiculous."
"Ridiculous?"
Now even Ah Yin was confused.
Although some spirit beasts were peaceful or fed on spiritual herbs and springs, they were merely lazy and nonaggressive at most.
What did he mean by ridiculous?
"Do you know Grandmaster?"
Chu Xiu wore an odd expression.
Ah Yin shook her head outright. She knew few humans, and Grandmaster certainly wasn't among them.
Shui Bing'er, however, had heard of him.
"You mean Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang, who wrote the Ten Core Competitive Theories of Martial Souls? I saw him once from a distance when I competed in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament."
"Does this spirit beast have something to do with him?"
Chu Xiu nodded, holding back a laugh. "If you've seen that Grandmaster's martial soul, you can imagine what the spirit beast beside the pool looks like."
"They don't just look alike. They're completely identical."
If the Deserted Island hadn't been his own martial soul, Chu Xiu would definitely have suspected that the spirit beast beside the pool was Luo Sanpao.
In other words, the martial soul of his former teacher, the theoretical grandmaster Yu Xiaogang.
It was precisely because of this failed martial soul mutation that Yu Xiaogang had been branded a disgrace and expelled from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
Otherwise, given the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's power, no one would have dared mock him, however ridiculous his theories were.
"But martial souls aren't spirit beasts, and mutated martial souls are unique. How could a spirit beast identical to that Grandmaster's martial soul appear here?"
Shui Bing'er couldn't quite understand it.
All ordinary beast martial souls had corresponding spirit beasts.
For instance, an owl martial soul corresponded to an owl spirit beast, while a phoenix martial soul corresponded to the ancient divine beast, the phoenix.
Shui Bing'er's ice phoenix martial soul, on the other hand, was a mutated martial soul.
No one had ever heard whether the ancient divine beasts had similar mutated forms, but no one had ever seen spirit beasts corresponding to the mutated martial souls on the continent.
"Exactly. That's why I suspect the spirit beasts here were all copied from the continent."
Chu Xiu's words carried an implication.
Shui Bing'er and Ah Yin both understood him.
If they had been copied from the continent, this place must be a separate space outside it.
And they couldn't use their martial souls or soul power here, either.
Shui Bing'er and Ah Yin soon accepted this theory.
"All right, don't overthink it."
Chu Xiu patted both women on the lower back and smiled. "I was planning to bathe first and clear out the spirit beasts tomorrow. Since we've run into one, let's send it to heaven now."
Shui Bing'er murmured her agreement, rather enjoying Chu Xiu's affectionate gesture.
Ah Yin, however, wasn't used to having someone hold her waist. Just as she was debating whether to move away, Chu Xiu slid his hand down and gave her plump, peach-shaped bottom a hard slap.
Smack!
"Ah!"
Ah Yin jumped in fright, her face instantly turning scarlet.
Shui Bing'er looked over in confusion, quickly realized what had happened, then turned away again as though she hadn't seen a thing.
Their reactions only made Chu Xiu more interested.
The three continued onward.
They didn't stop until they were less than a hundred meters from Spring Pool. Chu Xiu pulled his left hand out from beneath the leaves at Ah Yin's waist. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief, her legs so weak she nearly collapsed.
[Ah Yin has developed unusual feelings for you. Bond value +1.] [Current bond value: 1 point.]
Chu Xiu reacted quickly and caught her, keeping Ah Yin from falling.
The sudden notification in his mind made Chu Xiu pause.
What the hell? Only one point?
Wait, why did I get a point at all?
Could it be...
Chu Xiu looked at Ah Yin excitedly.
So the dating gurus were right? The more innocent a woman looked on the outside, the more she craved excitement inside?
Ah Yin really was the type who liked taking orders!!
"Spring Pool is just ahead, Chu Xiu. Should we come up with a strategy?"
Shui Bing'er's words interrupted Chu Xiu's thoughts.
Building up bond value was important.
But their immediate priority was to kill Luo Sanpao first.
Chu Xiu thought for a moment. "I'll use Concealment first. Once I get close and restrain Luo Sanpao, rush in and stab it to death."
"I... I can't."
Ah Yin shook her head repeatedly.
She never took the initiative to kill, nor had she ever needed to.
Shui Bing'er took the Bone Dagger from Chu Xiu, her expression serious. "Let me do it. Ah Yin, just stay behind us."
Chu Xiu untied his leaf apron and entered Concealment right before their eyes.
His voice came from thin air:
"Be careful, Bing'er. Luo Sanpao doesn't have much fighting ability, but its thunderous stink bombs can both paralyze you and cause hallucinations. Remember to hold your breath."
"Understood."
Shui Bing'er's expression turned cold and fierce.
This was the first time since her struggle for survival began that she had truly entered a battle-ready state.
Chu Xiu stepped over the fallen leaves, slowly advancing one step at a time, while Shui Bing'er hid herself somewhere she could easily charge out from.
Soon, Chu Xiu reached the pool.
Up close, he was even more certain that the creature before him was Luo Sanpao.
Although it certainly wasn't the same one, this spirit beast was identical to Yu Xiaogang's martial soul. He couldn't spot a single difference.
Luo Sanpao was soaking in Spring Pool, frolicking happily in the water.
Suddenly.
Luo Sanpao's nose twitched twice, and its little eyes, previously so knowing, instantly filled with wariness.
Damn it, it noticed me.
Chu Xiu had already reached the edge of the pool. Spring Pool was only five meters across, and he was barely more than two meters from Luo Sanpao.
Seeing Luo Sanpao try to flee, Chu Xiu lunged at it.
Luo Sanpao moved slowly in the water. Before it could crawl out of the pool, Chu Xiu pinned it beneath him. At the sight of the naked man appearing out of nowhere, Luo Sanpao let out terrified, piglike squeals.
"Oink, oink!"
"Oink, oink!"
"Do it, now!"
Chu Xiu clung tightly to Luo Sanpao's neck. The little fatty was round and surprisingly strong, and Chu Xiu knew he couldn't hold on for long.
Meanwhile.
Before Chu Xiu even shouted, Shui Bing'er had already charged out of hiding with the Bone Dagger.
"Die!"
In battle, Shui Bing'er seemed like a completely different person from her usual self.
Her gaze was sharp, and she thrust the Bone Dagger toward Luo Sanpao's neck without the slightest hesitation.
Realizing it couldn't break free of Chu Xiu anytime soon, Luo Sanpao sucked in a huge breath, then unleashed an earth-shaking fart.
The fart exploded inside the pool, blasting spring water into the air.
"Hold your breath."
Chu Xiu gave the warning and immediately held his own breath.
Shui Bing'er did the same. She had already reached Chu Xiu and Luo Sanpao, and drove the Bone Dagger deep into Luo Sanpao's neck before wrenching it downward.
Splatter!
A wound more than twenty centimeters long opened across Luo Sanpao's neck, deep enough to expose bone.
"Oink, oink!"
"Oink, oink!"
It struggled violently, blood gushing out like a fountain.
Within seconds, it stopped moving altogether.
