Ch. 21Xianling Returns
Key plot points
- The system rewards Chu Heng with Jade Hands, a technique that can harden his hands and protect him from weapons and poison, and Soul Ring Blessing, which makes a Soul Ring easier to absorb and increases its age to some extent.
- Rather than leave Soul Hunting Forest with Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, Chu Heng decides to stay and train. He builds a new shelter, gathers supplies, and prepares for an extended stay, hoping to gain combat experience against manageable Soul Beasts.
- After the inner-forest Beast Tide ends, Su Xianling returns to Chu Heng’s old shelter and finds it abandoned. Seeing no signs of a struggle, she suspects he left voluntarily and searches for him.
- At the forest entrance, Su Xianling learns from Tang San that Chu Heng is still inside the forest. Tang San gives her a rough location, and she immediately goes back in to find him.
Character developments
- Chu Heng becomes more committed to training independently. He weighs the risks and sees the forest as a useful place to improve, while the new rewards broaden his options for choosing a Soul Beast.
- Su Xianling is worried by Chu Heng’s disappearance but trusts his judgment. She acts quickly to track him down once she gets a lead.
- Tang San helps Su Xianling despite the interruption, confirming that Chu Heng is safe and providing what location details he can.
Character interactions
- Su Xianling questions the forest guards, then approaches Tang San’s carriage when she hears him ask whether she is from Spirit Hall.
- Tang San confirms he knows Chu Heng and identifies him as a friend. Su Xianling thanks him and sets off to search.
- Yu Xiaogang calls Tang San back into the carriage, which then departs.
