In the next instant, a soft glow spread across the giant slug's body. Then she rapidly split into hundreds, even thousands, of smaller slugs that flowed like a white tide along the streets and over the rooftops, spreading at astonishing speed toward the fiercest battles across Konoha.
Though smaller, these offshoots had inherited the slug's healing ability and some of her sensory powers.
"Go! Bring them life and hope!" Tsunade watched the spreading white torrent, her clenched fist slowly relaxing. The brilliance of a master healer shone in her eyes.
She knew she was protecting this village in her own way, protecting everything her younger brother and the man she loved had given their lives to defend.
"Wow! That's amazing!" For a moment, the sight made young Konohamaru forget his fear. His eyes shone with admiration as he waved his little fists and shouted, "I want to be like Granny Tsunade! I want to fight and beat those bad guys!"
Iruka quickly held the restless Konohamaru back and patted his head. His tone was gentle but firm. "Konohamaru, you're still too young. Fighting is for the adults. Your most important job right now is to follow orders and get to the shelter safely! Keeping yourself safe is the biggest help you can give us!"
Konohamaru wanted to argue, but when he saw the resolve in Iruka's eyes and the anxious faces of his classmates, he pouted and lowered his head.
After calming Konohamaru, Iruka looked up at Tsunade, his eyes full of gratitude and trust. He gave her a firm nod.
Tsunade met his gaze and nodded slightly. Her voice rang clear and strong across the evacuation point:
"Leave this place to me. We're counting on you at the front!"
Her presence steadied the defenders behind the lines at once.
