Kirigakure's nights were even more hazy and mysterious than its days. Sea mist veiled the streets like gauze, and the glow of the streetlights dissolved into indistinct halos.
Aizen wore his signature white Haori and walked at an unhurried pace, as though he really were just a traveler enjoying an evening stroll in a strange city.
His gaze occasionally drifted toward the specialty shops still open along the street, or lingered on Kirigakure's distinctive stone buildings and elevated walkways. His expression remained as gentle and calm as ever.
In the hotel corridor, he happened upon Moegi, the Konoha Jonin leading the visiting team, who had also stepped out for some air.
Moegi nodded politely when she saw him. "Mr. Aizen, heading out this late?"
Aizen stopped, gave her a faultlessly warm smile, and adjusted his glasses. "Yes, Miss Moegi."
"It's rare to visit Kirigakure, with its famous sea mist and remarkable sights. I was too busy looking after the children to take much in during the day, so I thought I'd wander around tonight and enjoy the atmosphere. Would you care to join me?"
Moegi quickly waved him off, looking relieved at the prospect of staying in. "No, no. I'm too tired to walk."
"Keeping an eye on those overenergetic kids all day wore me out. I'm going back to my room to catch up on Kirigakure's new drama series and relax."
Then she remembered something and added a little sheepishly, "Oh, right, Mr. Aizen. If you pass through the Commercial District and see a Misty Hues counter, could you pick up a set of their new Moonlit Tide skincare line for me?"
"I've heard it's especially moisturizing, perfect for Kirigakure's damp weather. I'll pay you back later."
