"What is going on?!" Hidan muttered. Then he snapped his head up, fury blazing in his eyes. "Sasuke Uchiha! Why attack the Jashinist Cult without cause? The Southern Diocese is far from Konoha and has never provoked it!"
The cultist struggled to his feet, then dropped to his knees. "He said it was because of the Peace Tour incident. He intends to take revenge on the entire Jashinist Cult."
The Peace Tour?
Hidan remembered. A month ago, Longqi, an ordinary priest in the cult, had planned the attack on the Peace Tour on his own. He had even taken the Water Demon Qi Lord Jashin had bestowed on Hidan.
The operation had failed, and Hidan had known retaliation would follow. But he had expected nothing more than the usual: Naruto Uzumaki would send Konoha ANBU to raid a few of his Hideouts, he would make a show of cooperating, and things would quiet down for a while.
After all, the attack had not succeeded. Hidan barely understood what had led to it in the first place; he had taken it for an ordinary sacrifice.
He had not expected Sasuke Uchiha to come, much less for the retaliation to be so thorough.
Even with Lord Jashin's gifts, Hidan could not say how many resources it would take to raise a fighter to Super Kage Level.
"Sasuke Uchiha!"
Hidan's roar shook the entire Underground Church. The ghostly flames on the stone pillars thrashed, more liquid seeped from the blood-red crystal on the Altar, and the Runes across the floor lit up one by one, as though the church itself were answering his rage.
"I'll sacrifice you to Lord Jashin one day! I'll gouge out your Rinnegan and hang it on the Altar! I'll strip the flesh from your body inch by inch
