"Whoa..." Shikadai stared at the sealing arrays covering the room. He could feel the immense power they held to restrain chakra.
Jackie Chan slipped straight into professional mode. He studied the sealing inscriptions around them, surprise and deep thought in his eyes, but did not touch anything yet.
He turned to the two boys, who had barely recovered from their fright, and introduced himself.
"My name is Jackie Chan. I'm an archaeologist from Kirigakure. I came to the Land of Wind for routine surveying and documentation of Ruins. I never expected to end up this deep underground—or run into those things."
"And you two are...?"
Boruto brushed the dirt off himself. "I'm Boruto Uzumaki, and this is Shikadai Nara. We're both Konoha ninja."
"We were on our way to Sunagakure to visit family, but a massive chain of sandstorms swept us into this desert. Then we found the entrance to these Ruins. Mr. Chan, do you know how to get to Sunagakure from here?"
Jackie Chan smiled. "Of course. You look about the same age as my niece Jade. I haven't been back to the village in two or three months myself. I wonder how Jade and Uncle are doing."
"Jade... Oh! You're the 'Uncle Jackie' she's always talking about?"
Boruto's eyes lit up. "We made friends with Jade when we went to Kirigakure for a Ninja Academy exchange!"
"She's always saying her Uncle Jackie went off on another adventure to dig up antiques and disappeared for months!"
Jackie Chan paused, then broke into a warm, hearty smile. It took some of the edge off their recent fright and the eerie atmosphere of the Ruins.
"Hahaha! What a coincidence! I never thought I'd meet Jade's friends here!"
Just then, two loud, perfectly synchronized stomach growls came from Boruto and Shikadai.
