Naruto's mouth hung open. His face said it all: Who am I? Where am I? What alien language is my son speaking?
He turned to Hinata, his eyes asking, Did our son get out of bed on the wrong side today?
Hinata blinked twice, leaned close to Naruto's ear, and whispered worriedly, "Naruto, do you think Boruto's under too much pressure from the graduation exam?"
Naruto rubbed his chin and considered the possibility with a grave expression.
On the bed, Boruto watched his parents whisper to each other. Neither looked remotely awed by him, much less surprised or admiring as he'd expected. He felt a little embarrassed.
He yanked off his glasses, revealing bright blue eyes that practically screamed, How do you not get it? Then he shouted:
"Hey! Dad! Mom! Haven't you seen the movie everyone's talking about, Kamen Rider: Beyond Destiny? That's exactly how the hero awakens!"
He jumped off the bed and paced barefoot across the floor, trying to explain. "I've thought this through, especially after what I experienced in Sunagakure."
"Back then, Sasori asked me whether the world we live in is real or an illusion. That question's been stuck in my head ever since!"
"Then I lived through something completely different in the Warring States Illusion! It felt so real, without a single flaw. It was just like the real world."
He grew more excited as he spoke, waving his arms. "So I figured it out! I, Boruto Uzumaki, might just be the new Child of Prophecy in this world's script—the one destined to shoulder a special mission and lead a new era!"
"When true darkness falls and invisible despair engulfs the Shinobi World, I'll step forward! With these ultimate eyes I'm about to awaken, I'll drive away every shadow!"
"The Child of Prophecy?!" Naruto
