Back in his room, Bai Xuan put the Black Dragon Bone Fragment into the World Book. Then he began working out how to inject Bai Yu with the Gene Enhancer.

Bai Yu was leaving for the Safe House tomorrow. Tonight was his only chance—he had to sneak in tonight!

"Xilin," Bai Xuan asked, "do you have any magic that can put someone into a deep sleep? Something that'll make sure they won't wake up for a while?"

"Master, are you..." Xilin sounded hesitant. "Are you planning to do something bad?"

"Of course not!" Bai Xuan hurried to explain. "I just want to inject my sister with the Gene Enhancer without her noticing... You know what I mean, right?"

Xilin fell silent for a moment, apparently thinking.

"I don't have any magic that can put someone completely to sleep," she finally replied, "but I do have a spell that can temporarily remove the sensation of pain."
