Zombie Legion!

Dusk deepened, and night drew near.

Bai Xuan headed home beneath the evening glow.

Suddenly, a flock of birds swept across the sky from the north, catching his eye.

A thick, overpowering stench of decay drifting in from the north.

Bai Yu: "How did you know I was north of Ninghang City?"

"Don't worry. It's safe here."

Despite her reassurance, that sewer-like stench made it hard for Bai Xuan to relax.

"Your brother messaged you again?"

Beside Bai Yu, Liu Qian spoke around a mouthful of hamburger.

"I'm so jealous. You have such a thoughtful little brother. I want one too!" Liu Qian took a sip of milk tea, envy in her voice.

"Thoughtful?" Bai Yu rolled her eyes. "You never saw how naughty he was as a kid. We got scolded plenty at the orphanage because of him."

"Really?"

Liu Qian blinked, a smile tugging at her lips.

"Of course!"

As she spoke, Bai Yu glanced at the hamburger and milk tea in Liu Qian's hands. "Didn't you used to avoid this stuff? Why are you eating it now...?"

"Ugh, I've been under too much stress lately." Liu Qian sighed. "Something sweet helps me feel better."

She pulled a milk candy from her pocket and offered it to Bai Yu. "Want one?"

"No, thanks..."

Beep, beep, beep, beep—!

Just then, the base alarm blared, shattering the calm.

"What's going on?"

"What happened?"

Both women looked puzzled.

"Wait here. I'll take a look outside."

Bai Yu rushed out of the room. Security officers throughout the Military Base were assembling and hurrying to their assigned defensive positions!

"Quick! They're coming!"

"Where are the machine gunners?"

"Defensive cannons, ready!"

"Damn it! Why are there so many?"

"We'll be fine! Several Investigators are here. We'll be fine!"

"We can hold them!"

Bai Yu frowned and climbed to a vantage point to look into the distance.

Under the cover of night, thousands of dark figures surged toward the base like a tide.

How did so many Zombies appear out of nowhere? Ninghang City couldn't have a Zombie horde this size...

"Don't worry."

Huang Xin approached with two other Investigators. "The base will be fine with us here."

Bai Yu said nothing. She looked around, then asked, "Where is Miss Li Hongyou?"

"She's somewhere in the base. I don't know exactly where," Huang Xin replied.

"All right..." Bai Yu nodded, though worry lingered in her eyes.

By then, the Zombies had closed to within a kilometer of the Military Base.

"They're here!"

"Fire the cannons!"

Boom!

As the horde advanced, every defensive cannon in the base opened fire.

The cannon blasts shook the sky!

Each shell landed squarely among the Zombies, killing dozens at a time and raising walls of blazing fire where they struck.

The few Zombies that made it through the barrage were cut down by machine-gun fire before they could get close.

"Fire!"

Bang, bang, bang!

Bullets poured down. Vast as their numbers were, the Zombies fell in swathes under the concentrated fire, leaving the ground strewn with mangled flesh.

"Hahaha! Nothing beats heavy firepower!"

"They're just Zombies! That's all they've got?"

"If it's carbon-based, it can't stand up to a 12.7-millimeter round!"

"Kill them! Kill every last one!"

"..."

The overwhelming firepower brought excitement to everyone's faces. Ordinary Zombies were no match for guns and cannons. In mere moments, nearly a third of the horde had been wiped out.

Just when the battle seemed one-sided, several hulking figures burst from the flames and charged toward the Military Base!

Bullets barely fazed them. Even when shells blew off their limbs, the wounds healed in moments, and they charged again!

"Damn it! What are those monsters?!"

"Quick! Seal the breach! Don't let them in!"

"They won't die... They just won't die!"

"Aah—!"

"We're done for... They're inside!"

"Hold the line! We have to hold!"

The Tyrants' sudden arrival tore a hole in the security officers' defensive line.

Countless Zombies flooded through the breach into the Military Base.

Huang Xin spoke calmly. "Our turn, colleagues."

"Right."

The three Investigators rushed to the breach and were soon locked in battle with several Tyrants.

But the tide of the fight made it clear they were no match for them.

Seeing this, Bai Yu drew her pistol and prepared to help.

Just then, a figure dropped from the sky.

Li Hongyou raised one hand, and the Zombies about to break through the line floated into the air.

"What... what kind of power is that?"

"They're floating!"

"It's that girl's ability!"

Everyone looked up at Li Hongyou, their faces filled with shock.

With a casual sweep of her hand, Li Hongyou sent countless Zombies plummeting headfirst onto the concrete.

In an instant, hundreds of Zombie skulls burst like smashed fruit. It was a horrifying sight.

"She's incredible!"

"That was amazing!"

Cheers rose from the crowd.

Li Hongyou, however, looked as unconcerned as ever. She turned her gaze to the Tyrants Huang Xin and the others were fighting.

She raised both hands again and made a tearing motion.

An invisible force hauled a Tyrant into the air. It struggled briefly before being ripped in half, its remains crashing to the ground.

"So... so strong..."

The three Investigators stared in horror.

They had never imagined Li Hongyou of White Sea City was this terrifyingly powerful!

She had torn a Tyrant apart with a gesture!

"Hold the breach. Leave this to me."

Li Hongyou flew forward as she spoke to Huang Xin and the others.

"No problem! Leave it to us, Miss Li Hongyou!" Huang Xin answered with a smile.

He had always praised Li Hongyou, but even he had not expected her to be this strong.

She had torn a Tyrant apart with a wave of her hands...

Forget a junior Investigator. Even an intermediate Investigator would struggle to do that!

Before he had finished speaking, Li Hongyou struck again. Two more Tyrants were reduced to pieces in her hands.

But as she continued using telekinesis, red veins spread across her eyes—a sign that she was overusing her ability.

"Tch!" Li Hongyou pursed her lips in irritation. "When this is over, I'm settling things with that damn woman!"

Even as she spoke, she unleashed her telekinesis again, instantly tearing another Tyrant apart.

Watching from afar, Bai Yu could not hide her astonishment.

Before long, every Zombie that had broken through the defensive line had been eliminated.

"Especially that young woman. She's scarier than the monsters!"
