"Taking a shower? This late?"

Bai Yu asked, her face full of confusion.

"Yeah, I just finished studying," Bai Xuan replied, though his gaze drifted toward Xilin, who stood in his room.

He couldn't leave Xilin outside alone. After thinking it over, he decided the only place he could feel at ease was with her in his bedroom.

Fortunately, Bai Yu never entered his room without asking, and the apartment had decent soundproofing. As long as they didn't speak too loudly, no one would hear them.

The only hurdle was the awkwardness of sharing a room.

"Studying?"

At the word, Bai Yu immediately rolled her eyes.

She didn't believe for a second that Bai Xuan had been studying at home.

He'd probably been playing computer games all this time, or reading novels online.

"Get some rest after your shower," Bai Yu told him.

"I will. You should get some rest too."

"Mm."

Bai Yu went into her room. After a long day, she could use a good shower herself.

Once things had gone quiet outside, Bai Xuan lowered his voice. "Xilin, go take a shower first. Wash the blood off."

"Mm." Xilin nodded.

She propped the Lightless Sword against the wall, then removed her white-and-gold armor and arranged each piece neatly. But when the heavy armor was gone, the outfit underneath made Bai Xuan raise an eyebrow.

Beneath that weighty armor, Xilin wore only a snow-white, skin-tight bodysuit with a golden gem set at the chest. It clung to her body, perfectly outlining the curves of a female knight.

She had no exaggerated muscles. Instead, she was shapely and beautiful, with well-proportioned limbs, smooth lines, and not an ounce of excess fat.

Except for those two pale mounds...

A stat of 97.5 really was a little high.

Then again, Bai Xuan wasn't all that surprised.

Xilin was a Succubus Holy Knight, after all. How could science explain magic?

"By the way, do you have a change of clothes?" Bai Xuan asked.

"My Holy Robe cleans itself." With that, Xilin turned and entered the bathroom.

It cleans itself? Bai Xuan paused, turning the idea over in his mind.

But a moment later, Xilin came back out. "I've never seen these devices before. Could you teach me how to use them?"

"Oh, sure..."

After showing Xilin how everything worked, Bai Xuan left the bathroom.

His gaze fell on her armor. There were still traces of blood on it.

"I'll wash it for her." Bai Xuan walked over to the pile of armor, intending to clean it.

After all, she was his strongest fighter right now.

But the moment he reached for a piece, he froze.

It's so heavy!

Even a single bracer weighed dozens of kilograms!

Then the whole suit... must weigh several hundred kilograms at least?!

Bai Xuan frowned. Xilin wore several hundred kilograms of armor everywhere she went?

That's impressive!

Before long, Xilin emerged from the bathroom.

She was still wearing that snow-white bodysuit. Though it covered her from head to toe, plenty of details remained visible... Her damp golden hair clung to her fair skin, and her blue eyes shimmered beautifully in the light.

After leaving the bathroom, Xilin sat down cross-legged, and Bai Xuan took bedding out of the closet.

He sat up and stretched, then glanced to the side without thinking.

Xilin was already awake, stretching in the room.

Soft sunlight fell across her figure, tracing out striking curves.

As Bai Xuan quietly admired the lovely morning sight, Bai Yu called through the door. "Bai Xuan, are you up? Breakfast is ready."

"Oh, coming."

Bai Xuan answered at once. After a quick wash, he gave Xilin one more reminder before leaving the room.

For now, he had no plans to tell Bai Yu about Xilin. He didn't want to worry her for nothing.

Breakfast was already on the table in the living room: steamed buns, fried dough sticks, and soy milk.

Bai Yu was seated at the table, but her attention was fixed on the tablet in her hands.

"What are you watching?"

Bai Xuan asked curiously.

But when he glanced at the screen, he froze.

It was footage of Xilin fighting the Ghoul last night!

"A video. Two of our teams ran into an Anomalies incident last night."

Chewing on a steamed bun, Bai Yu explained, "We lost several police officers. Fortunately, a female knight stepped in and took that Anomaly down."

"A female knight?"

Bai Xuan deliberately feigned confusion. "Like a medieval Western knight?"

"Mm."

Bai Yu nodded, a note of regret entering her voice. "But she had a helmet on, so there's no way to identify her face."

"So the Public Security Bureau is investigating her now?" Bai Xuan picked up a fried dough stick as he pressed for more.

"The Public Security Bureau investigates anyone or anything connected to Anomalies." Bai Yu hurriedly finished her bun and stood. "I'm off to work. Take your time eating."

"Oh, okay."

Bai Xuan nodded and watched Bai Yu leave. Only then did he let Xilin out of his room.

"Want a steamed bun?" he asked casually.

Xilin shook her head. She didn't seem interested in human food.

Her gaze settled on the fresh milk nearby, then shifted to Bai Xuan.

He caught on immediately and handed her the milk. "I have to go to school in a bit. Be good and wait for me at home."

"Okay."

Xilin nodded gently as she drank the milk.

After breakfast, Bai Xuan hurried off to school.

Before leaving, he had given Xilin some comics from his treasured collection to help her pass the time.

Because Anomalies existed in this world, schools no longer separated high school from university. Their main purpose had long since become assigning students to career paths.

Once this year's selection exam was over, Bai Xuan could choose his future.

He could join the fight against Anomalies as an Investigator or Police Officer, for example, or enter an ordinary profession.

So technically, he was a university student about to start an internship. He just had to qualify through the selection exam first.

He had barely sat down at school when Zhao Fan, who sat in the front row, leaned over excitedly. "Bai Xuan, did you hear? There was an Anomalies incident at Baida Plaza yesterday!"

"An Anomalies incident?"

"Yeah!" Zhao Fan shoved his phone over. "Look!"

Bai Xuan looked at Zhao Fan's phone. The video showed a bystander's view of Xilin fighting Xu Yan.

"Holy shit, this is awesome!" Zhao Fan grew more excited as he spoke. "A medieval female knight fighting a man-eating monster! It's like watching a game cinematic! That fight was incredible!"

"It was pretty awesome," Bai Xuan agreed wholeheartedly. He had been there to see it.

"So damn awesome! Wait, what? Shit!" Zhao Fan had barely finished praising it when he cursed and swiped frantically at the screen. "Why was the video taken down? I hadn't saved it yet!"

"Fuck!"
