What Do You Mean, "Not That Big"?

Surprise flashed across Bai Yu's and Liu Qian's faces once again.

Neither of them had imagined that the mysterious Female Knight, powerful as she was, actually had a master.

As they puzzled over it, a man in a detective's cap walked up to Li Hongyou with a smile. "Miss Li Hongyou, why didn't you come to the bureau first? I could have arranged a proper welcome for you!"

Li Hongyou turned to him and replied coldly, "I had another task to handle."

"As expected of White Sea City's finest Junior Investigator! You can handle two investigations at once!" The man looked impressed. He edged closer and said respectfully, "I'm Huang Xin. The bureau sent me to assist you. Whatever you need, just say the word."

"..."

Li Hongyou gave Huang Xin a cold glance. "Hurry up and find out who has the thing Xu Yan brought into Ninghang City. If you don't, a lot of people will die."

With that, she rose into the air and flew deep into the night sky. Her figure soon vanished into the darkness.

"She just flew away!" Liu Qian exclaimed, staring in the direction Li Hongyou had gone.

"Well, she's Li Hongyou!"

Huang Xin grinned and declared dramatically, "She's number one among the Junior Investigators in White Sea City... No, wait! In all of Huaguo! Forget Junior Investigators—even some Intermediate Investigators can't beat her!"

"She's that strong?" Liu Qian's eyes widened in disbelief.

"You bet..."

Bai Yu stayed out of the conversation. She looked up at the glittering stars, silent as a hundred thoughts stirred within her.

The next day, Bai Xuan slept until ten.

He turned his head and saw Xilin stretching as she read a comic book.

"Morning."

"Morning."

After greeting Xilin, Bai Xuan went into the bathroom to wash up.

When he finished, he went to the living room, but Bai Yu was nowhere to be seen.

That was normal enough. For a Police Officer, overtime was part of the job.

And because Bai Yu was so busy, he dared to keep a beauty hidden away at home.

Bai Xuan boiled himself a bowl of plain noodles, ate a few bites, then opened the World Quest interface.

With help from a public-spirited citizen like him, the number of Anomalous Calamities in Ninghang City was gradually falling. Only three blinking red dots remained.

Once he cleared them all, Ninghang City could enjoy a little peace again.

The remaining Anomalous Calamities were no easy targets, though. Only one was F-grade.

Bai Xuan murmured to himself, then looked toward Xilin, who was still reading her comic.

She wore that snow-white, skin-tight bodysuit, but it was hardly something she could wear out every day.

After a moment's thought, he asked, "Xilin, want to go out?"

"A mission?" Xilin set down her comic and looked up at him.

"Not a mission. I just want to buy you some everyday clothes," Bai Xuan explained.

"..."

Xilin considered it for a moment, then nodded lightly.

"Before that, you can wear some of my sister's clothes."

Bai Xuan got up and went into Bai Yu's room to borrow a few things.

They were about the same height, around 172 centimeters, so the clothes should fit.

He picked out a jacket and a pair of casual pants.

When Xilin tried them on, they were a little tight but fit well enough.

"Let's go."

Bai Xuan took Xilin out.

Before leaving, Xilin brought her Lightless Sword.

Before long, they reached a nearby mall.

Bai Xuan led Xilin into a women's clothing store.

He was still a student with no income, but the money he had saved from his living expenses was more than enough to buy Xilin a few new outfits.

Money, however, turned out to be the least of his problems.

"What do you mean you don't have a bra in her size?"

"I'm very sorry, sir. This young lady has such a remarkable figure that a bra in her size would have to be custom-made!"

"Then order three sets for me."

"Of course. Please leave your home address, and we'll ship them to you once they're ready."

After filling in the address, Bai Xuan looked over at Xilin, who stood before the fitting-room mirror.

She gazed at her reflection, slightly lost in thought.

"What's wrong?" Bai Xuan asked softly as he approached.

"Nothing..." Xilin shook her head vaguely. After a pause, she said quietly, "Thank you for your generosity. These are the first new clothes I've had since becoming a Holy Knight."

"Huh?" Bai Xuan froze, then asked, "You've worn nothing but that one Holy Robe since you became a Holy Knight?"

"Yes." Xilin nodded gently. "The Pope had it made especially for me. Since I was five, I've never taken it off except to bathe."

"???"

Bai Xuan had no words.

The Holy Robe might clean itself, but wearing the same outfit for more than ten years was ridiculous!

She should at least have had a spare!

That Pope was far too stingy!

Before they knew it, evening had come.

Bai Xuan bought Xilin two everyday outfits, two pairs of shoes, and a loose set of pajamas.

As they carried their shopping bags back to his place, a black sedan drove past and caught his attention.

"Hm?"

Bai Xuan watched the sedan and silently memorized its license plate number.

The reason was simple: he had caught the scent of a corpse-being inside.

Li Hongyou happened to spot Bai Xuan and Xilin by the roadside, but she only glanced at them and paid them little attention.

She could not help looking at Xilin's figure a few more times, though. Then she snorted.

"Hmph. Just a useless accumulation of fat."

"Miss Red Pomelo, it's thanks to you that we managed to capture this infected person," Huang Xin said with a smile as he drove. "Once we get back to the bureau, we'll get the location of that thing out of him."

"Let's hope so." Li Hongyou folded her arms and added coolly, "I'm more concerned that you won't get anything out of him."

"How could that happen? Don't worry!" Huang Xin quickly waved a hand and smiled. "We have a thorough interrogation procedure. We'll definitely learn something this time."

Li Hongyou did not answer. She simply looked out the window in silence, as if deep in thought.

When Bai Xuan got home, Bai Yu still had not returned.

He sat on the sofa and opened the World Quest interface again.

The Anomalous Calamities in Ninghang City were unchanged. The only update was a notice that the Sunlight Slime had weakened after sunset.

Once Xilin had put on her armor, Bai Xuan activated the Teleportation Array.
