Ch. 721Call Your Fathers. All of Them!
Summary
After Brigade Commander Lei Zhan apologizes, knocks out his nephew, and leaves, the presidential suite is stunned. Xu Yaoyang and the remaining young masters cannot understand why Lei yielded to Yue Xiaofei. Su Wanning is equally shocked, and begins to question the prejudiced assumptions she has made about Yue.
Xu Yaoyang convinces himself that Yue’s authority comes only from Elder Xu and the Red Booklet, not from Yue’s own standing. Reassured by this explanation, he and the others boast about their family connections: Young Master Zhang threatens to use his family’s influence in the film industry, while Xu invokes his uncle’s ties to the powerful Cao Family.
Unimpressed, Yue settles down with a cola and tells them to call their fathers, grandfathers, and every influential relative to the hotel. He intends to settle the matter with all their families present. Xu and the others take up the challenge, calling home and exaggerating what happened. They threaten Yue with their families’ connections to the Azure Alliance, Bureau 7, and the elite Reverse Scale squad.
Character developments and interactions
- Yue Xiaofei remains calm and in control. Rather than argue with the young men, he invites their families to come and confront him.
- Xu Yaoyang cannot accept that Yue may possess genuine power, so he clings to the theory that Yue is merely borrowing Elder Xu’s influence. His wounded pride turns into renewed bravado.
- Su Wanning begins to recognize that her view of Yue was unfair, though she remains uncertain about who he really is.
- The young masters regain their confidence through boasts and threats, supporting one another as they summon their families.
- The chapter’s central interaction is the contrast between Yue’s casual composure and the young men’s escalating, performative defiance.
Significant themes
- Prejudice and status: Su’s reassessment and Xu’s denial show how social assumptions shape people’s judgments.
- Power and legitimacy: Xu assumes influence must come from a famous patron; Yue’s true standing remains mysterious.
- Arrogance and escalation: The young men respond to humiliation not with reflection, but by calling in ever more powerful relatives.
- Suspense: Yue’s challenge sets up a larger confrontation, while leaving the source and extent of his authority unresolved.
