The Justice League Watchtower.
Suspended in geosynchronous orbit above Earth, the magnificent space station was the crowning achievement of human and alien technology combined—and the planet's last line of defense.
At that moment, the station's control room was as quiet and orderly as ever.
Beyond its vast curved viewport, blue Earth hung against the depths of space like a gleaming jewel.
Batman, Bruce Wayne, sat at the main console, his fingers flying across virtual screens as he processed intelligence from around the globe. His black cape hung behind him like a frozen shadow.
Not far away, Superman, Clark Kent, floated before the viewport with his arms crossed, gazing down at his home. His blue eyes, which seemed able to see through anything, were filled with compassion and tenderness.
Cyborg, Victor Stone, had closed his one human eye and merged with the Watchtower's mainframe, monitoring global networks and space for the slightest anomaly.

"Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep—!"
A shrill red alert blared through the control room without warning!
Cyborg's eyes snapped open. Streams of data flashed wildly across the red electronic eye on his left.
"Alert! Detecting a drastic change in global geographic data!"
On the enormous three-dimensional image of Earth above the central console, a stretch of sea near the Bermuda Triangle lit up in glaring red.
The image zoomed in. Everyone saw something that defied all understanding: an immense island wreathed in clouds and mist had appeared out of nowhere, pushing its way from the void into the real world!
"That's impossible!" Superman flew to the console, disbelief written across his face. "How could a landmass that huge appear out of thin air? Our deep-sea sonar and geological monitoring satellites gave us no warning!"
"This isn't
