The Watchtower space station was deathly silent.
The members of the Justice League were like lions trapped in a gilded cage, powerless as they stared at the menacing warship that had suddenly appeared on the main screen, radiating an ominous aura.
They all recognized it as a creation of Apokolips.
"When did it get here?" The Flash, Barry Allen, sounded hoarse. "Are our quantum radar and magic detection arrays just for show?"
"Its cloaking technology is beyond our understanding." Batman, Bruce Wayne, spoke from the shadows. He pulled up every surveillance record, but found nothing. The ship had appeared out of nowhere, like a ghost.
"Diana, do you recognize those creatures?" Superman, Clark Kent, looked at Wonder Woman. He could sense the pure evil radiating from them.
Diana's expression turned grave. She clenched her fists. "I've seen drawings of them in Themyscira's oldest scrolls... They're Darkseid's minions, Parademons. Wherever they go, they bring only destruction and enslavement."
Just as everyone braced for a brutal battle, the main screen flickered.
Link's handsome face, wearing a faintly mocking smile, filled the screen.
Behind him was the bridge of the Ghost Ship, where hundreds upon hundreds of Parademons lay at his feet like docile sheep.
"Good afternoon, 'heroes.'" Link's voice came over the broadcast system, carrying a lazy hint of amusement. "Sorry to interrupt your confinement. I just wanted to show you a little... souvenir from the cosmos."
Like a child showing off a new toy, he nudged the Parademons Commander's helmet with the tip of his foot.
"Some guy calling himself Darkseid sent them to wreck my new toy. I thought that was rather rude, so I kept it. Took this little ship and its crew too."
