It was the most instinctive awe and fear a living being could feel when faced with an existence from a higher dimension.
Thanos looked at Link before him, and his heart, once as firm as stone in its pursuit of "balance," finally shattered completely.
He knew he had lost utterly.

The universe had not chosen him. Instead, it had chosen this man before him, whom he could not understand at all.
