Background and History

Tuoba Xi leads the Holy Dragon Sect and cares for Yin Changqing while the boy’s parents travel in search of a breakthrough. After Changqing awakens his Martial Souls, Xi personally takes him to the Star Dou Great Forest, subdues a Light Wyvern for his first Soul Ring, and guards him during its absorption. He later urges Changqing to conceal his Dark Sacred Dragon Martial Soul until his parents return 1 2.

When Changqing demonstrates that whale rubber can temper a soul master’s body, Xi supervises a cautious test before arranging for the sect to buy it discreetly. He also supports the creation of Holy Dragon Academy from Meng Shu’s Beast Academy and names Changqing its first student and team captain 3 17.

Xi’s work for the sect extends beyond cultivation. After Qian Daoliu tells him that Qian Renxue is operating undercover as Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, Xi takes Changqing to meet her and backs his proposal to exchange intelligence support for authority over three Heaven Dou cities 19 20. He later welcomes Dugu Bo as a grand elder after Changqing helps the poison master and his granddaughter 38 39.

Appearance

Xi is depicted with graying hair and a beard before refining the Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid. Afterward, black returns to parts of both, and he appears younger and more vigorous 41.

Personality

Xi is openly proud of Changqing’s talent, but his enthusiasm does not erase his concern for the boy’s safety. He guards Changqing during his first Soul Ring absorption, questions the risks of unusually old rings, and later tells him not to rush his cultivation 2 17 39 81.

As sect master, he is ambitious and willing to invest in alliances, an academy, and cultivation resources. He is also capable of restraint: despite the sect’s covert Worship Hall allegiance, he insists on hiding its newer gains rather than drawing scrutiny from Qian Daoliu and the worshippers 17 45 62.

White-Armored Earth Dragon

Xi’s Martial Soul provides strength and defense. He uses its power to subdue the Light Wyvern for Changqing’s first ring and later deploys his Martial Soul Avatar against a Blizzard Light Dragon in the Far North 2 47.

Lightfire

The Golden Earth Dragon King right arm bone grants Xi a golden-white flame combining light and draconic power 25.

• Can be driven into an opponent in close combat to burn their meridians and Soul Power 25.

Soul Core

Xi forms a solid Soul Core by spinning and compressing liquid Soul Power under precise spiritual control. The attempt succeeds without immediately raising his level beyond 91, though he judges his resulting strength comparable to level 93 25 26.

• Golden Earth Dragon King right arm bone — a 20,000-year Spirit Bone purchased in Heaven Dou City; refining it grants Lightfire 22 25.
