He glanced down. The ground was translucent, as though he were standing on an immense mirror of water. Countless tiny motes of light flowed beneath its surface, each one a fragment of a law gathered into the Divine Realm.
When he looked up, the heavens stretched impossibly high and far. There was no sun or moon. Light arose of its own accord, seeping from those fragments of laws and bathing the entire space in a brightness that was neither dazzling nor dim, but just right.
No wind blew, yet the air felt alive, flowing gently across their faces with a crisp, faintly sweet freshness.
"So this is the Divine Realm."
Ning Rongrong was the first to hop forward. Nine-Color God light shone around her, like a flower blooming before the gates of the Divine Realm.
She spun around and looked everywhere, her eyes so bright they seemed capable of reflecting the entire heavens.
"It's much prettier than I imagined! I thought the Divine Realm would be all glittering gold and splendor, covered in clouds, with immortal mist floating everywhere. But it's so simple and clean, and so beautiful."
"What's so great about glittering gold and splendor?"
Shui Yue'er walked beside her, a smile on her round face, her short pale-blue hair swaying gently in the Divine Realm's breeze.
She reached out to touch a floating patch of light beside her. Her fingers passed through it, and it broke into smaller motes that circled her fingertips before scattering. She withdrew her hand, smiling until her eyes curved.
"I like this better. Clean and quiet, like looking up from the bottom of the sea."
