Background and History

Fang Fan is an orphan from Holy Spirit Village. A system grants him two Martial Souls and then disappears. Their awakening produces a sky-filling omen, drawing the attention of Su Yuntao and, through his report, Pope Bibi Dong. Fang Fan chooses to join Spirit Hall, where Bibi Dong takes him as her personal disciple 1 2 3.

His gifts come with a persistent danger: the Netherworld Evil Tiger’s Evil Thought can drive him toward violence. An early manifestation threatens the Notting City branch, but Fang Fan regains control himself. Bibi Dong gives him an 80,000-year Head Spirit Bone and obtains the Angel Meditation Method to help him resist the influence. Neither eliminates it; by age fifteen, he is still enduring outbreaks every full moon 2 3 4 5.

Seeking a solution, Bibi Dong brings him to the Star Luo Empire after finding records of affinity between tiger and civet Martial Souls. Fang Fan saves Zhu Zhuqing from Zhu Gang, defeats her stronger relative Zhu Xiaolie, and later returns with her to Spirit Hall. Zhu Zhuqing becomes his wife and a central partner in his Martial Soul fusion abilities 5 8 9 13 36 110.

Fang Fan’s victories and alliances increasingly affect Spirit Hall’s wider position. He saves Dugu Bo’s family, helps Ning Rongrong advance, and contributes to circumstances that bring the Poison Douluo and Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect closer to Spirit Hall. During the campaign against the Clear Sky Sect, he improves Bibi Dong’s siege plan by proposing that Slaughter City’s supplies be cut off as well 36 91 118 122.

He is protective of those close to him. He rescues Zhu Zhuqing on the Angel Holy Light Bridge and tells her she need not risk herself for his reputation. When the Asura God King turns Bibi Dong against him, Fang Fan refuses to injure his teacher and concentrates on freeing her instead 17 153 154. He is also willing to make a clean rejection: he tells Hu Liena plainly that he does not return her feelings rather than encourage false hope 125.
