As Mo Bai rode Nue past the Transit Spine, he sensed a familiar presence again.

It wasn't the first time. Whenever he passed the Greatsword left behind by the Tunneler, he could sense his own Cursed Energy on it.

Was it Cursed Energy left behind when I first jumped off that train car?

Well, I wasn't very skilled at controlling Cursed Energy back then, so leaving some behind would make sense.

But I definitely didn't have this much Cursed Energy at the time.

Now he could sense that the Cursed Energy left on the Transit Spine covered almost its entire surface.

But when Mo Bai thought of what he was about to do, understanding seemed to dawn on him, and he sighed softly.

"Looks like this is cause and effect too."

His words sounded casual, but beneath him, Nue could feel her master's feet trembling slightly.

Screech!

Nue carried Mo Bai to the cabin where Aemeath and the Rover had once lived together, then disappeared.

The lake beside it was Mo Bai's destination.

And as expected, he wasn't the only one there.

Mo Bai looked toward a figure not far away.

"You left the Rover's side so suddenly. Can I call that a dereliction of duty, Aemeath?"

Mo Bai smiled as he greeted the Digital Ghost, whose back was turned to him.

At his words, Aemeath's back trembled for an instant.

"When did you figure it out...?"

Aemeath's voice was strained as she questioned Mo Bai behind her.

Even without her spelling it out, Mo Bai could hear the confusion in her question and... a trace of anger.

"My enemy once told me I was observant. I could more or less piece it all together back at the Auditorium," Mo Bai said quietly.
